Fuck me, but the Romance Bookity World is a nightmare at the moment. I mean, geesus. What the hell happened to, I don’t know, reading? For fun?? Who knew it was that fucking hard. Christ.
So, please, for the love of humanity, someone tell me what you’ve read recently that you’ve absolutely loved?
I’m begging here.
A Lady’s Life in the Rocky Mountains by Isabella L Bird, written in 1873 – my reviewette is here:

Check out the quotes from the book (which probably show as “Quotes Chris Liked” under the review.
I’m in love with this one…
“and though he failed so grotesquely, he did his incompetent best”
I’m going to start a list of people who I could send this to. If only…
That line should be the entire definition for the phrase “damning with faint praise”.
Indeed.
I am re reading the first people of America series bij Michael w. Gear. Well some of them.
I love next to the story lines the fact that you can feel the amount of research they put in the books. It makes it so realistic.
On the mm front, Cronin’s key was a surprisingly good read. Very entertaining
I just read ‘Cronin’s Key’ this weekend just gone. I liked the world-building.
I’ve read a few good mm books recently. I finished the Axton/Leander series by SP Wayne and enjoyed those. JL Merrow’s new book is entertaining. Misfits by Garrett Leigh was a great mmm. Of course I’m also rereading the Falls Chance Ranch books which are my current go to comforth read.
I’m ignoring all the internet kerfuffles. After so many years of blogging it all seems like a storm in a tea cup. Been there, done that, yawn yawn yawn!
Hear hear, one very good reason to not read blogs.
Must look for that mmm book. Haven’t tag a good one in a while.
And the sp Wayne triology is very good indeed. Not a cookie cutter standard shifter story
I haven’t tried the S P Wayne series. With recs from both you and Ingrid, I’ll have 2 people to blame if I hate it. Good times.
I try not to look at the book crazy too. Hard to avoid on Twitter, though, especially all the stupid. It seems to be catching.
You can always unfollow certain people who always seen in the middle of such things.
Makes for a more relaxing feed
True, but that would require me having to expend the energy to go through my Following list and you know how lazy I am so…
I avoid it all. Twitter makes me laugh, when I can remember my log in. Just not worth the give a fuck though the shit going on truly makes me laugh. I’m honestly shocked it’s exploded the way it has but that’s the insular world of the inter webs for you.
Let’s see good books… I’m listening to the audiobook of Tigerland. The aussie narrator (who should have done T&D!) is pretty entertaining. He has Simon’s whine down. I also read a couple old Ava March books – the Brook St series – which are always nice for light drama and tons of hot, moody historical sex.
In non m/m I read Ghettoside. Phenomenal.
As you can imagine, I heard (har, har) and heard and heard about his disappointment re: the audio book for T&D. He was absolutely delighted about Tigerland. Thank the Book Goddesses. Not that I was unsympathetic or anything…
