  1. Tam says:

Well hell, I know where to find you now. Do you have to swim across the river or are you civilized down there and have a bridge?

I too live on the south side of the river, granted a different river, far from the ocean, but it must be why we have so much in common. 🙂

  2. K. Z. Snow says:

So Sean lives closer to the ocean? Then I'd rather visit him.

I don't live near water. But I do live on sand–lots of sand, dumped by the glaciers–so I'm damned well sick of it.

(And, yeah, what's up with the “river” being such a barrier? So Sean couldn't see you on your birthday because the river is full of piranas, and they would've chewed up all his dangly bits?)

  3. Jenre says:

What sort of map is this which doesn't even tell us the name of the river?

*sigh* You just can't get the right staff at these obscure internet sites.

Well I'm from the North of England which is far better than the South, so I may have to be on the side of Sean with this one :p.

  4. Huh??

Hey, you need a place for me!

  5. Tracy says:

IS it so far away that you have to fly to get there or will a nice walk along the river do it?

  6. wren says:

Not only does it not tell us the name of the river, where is the Compass Rose? What about the map scale thingie?

And is the wrong side of the river like the wrong side of the tracks?

  7. Kris says:

Tam: Puleeze. Bridges are for wimps.

You and me. We're like this. *crossing fingers*

KZ: *smiling sweetly* I'd rather you visit him too.

Perth is a giant sand pit. Used to be part of the ocean back in the day.

“And, yeah, what's up with the “river” being such a barrier?”

Cos when you're as Jet, you're a Jet all the way!

Jen: I thought Kroogle maps did a pretty good job. At least, they clearly indicate that living in the north is crap.

  8. Sean Kennedy says:

Jen, it's the Swan River. And it's very treacherous. Sharks have been known to swim into the city. No lie. And the jellyfish!

Tam, there's a bridge but you don't want to risk being eaten by the troll.

KZ, I'm pretty close to the ocean. Ten minute drive, anyway.

And it's no wonder Kris is so snobby about the north side of the river. The south is full of rich snobs. Northies keep it real.

  9. Kris says:

KBC: You can come stay with me on the good side of the river any time, hun. 🙂

Tracy: If I actually did any exercise I could walk, but really… why bother. The only reason to travel north of the river is (a) for work and (b) for Ikea.

Wren: What you're dissing Kroogle too?? And here I thought that by it showing north and south of the river would orientate people. Go figure. As to scale, it is 1:smiley/frowny face.

“And is the wrong side of the river like the wrong side of the tracks?”

Kinda, although Sean has yet to confirm whether he's really living in a trailer – we call 'em caravans here – park or not.

  10. Tam says:

Holy crap, I grew up about 5 km from the Swan River, it's also the name of the town I went to High School in. *cue Twilight Zone music* No sharks though.

  11. Kris says:

Sean: 10 mins away from the beach?? Let me guess. You're a western suburbs, yuppie boy, aren't you.

Tam: Pysch. What about dolphins, seals or, you know, swans?!

  12. Tam says:

Yes, swans. Being near the geographic centre of North America kind of keeps seals and dolphins to a minimum.

  13. Kris says:

Poo. So I guess this means no mermaid sightings.

  14. *snort* Kris, I gotta say, the thing I love about you is not only your amazing sense of direction, but also your ability to recognize it. heh

Sheesh…I'm hoping I'm not THIS bad when giving directions. *snorts*

  15. Kris says:

Bridget, well, you know, modesty is a virtue, blah, blah…

    Wait a minute…

You're taking the piss, aren't you. Hmpf!

  16. Sean Kennedy says:

Far from it, Kristypoo. More like your desperate little hipster-wannabe (without the fashion) stuck in suburbia.

  17. Ingrid says:

One good and one bad reason to cross the river.

fyi there are no river thingies here only man made canals and such.
Must say that it nice to live so close to the beach.

  18. orannia says:

*smiling sweetly* I'd rather you visit him too.

    *snort*

I'm assuming the crosses are meant to represent the wrong side of the river?

But you've left out an important marker – the book store 🙂

  19. Kris says:

Sean, but you do have fashion sense… the blue mesh really suits you. 🙂

Ingrid: The beaches in Western Australia are some of the best in Australia if not the world IMO. We're very lucky.

Orannia: X definitely does NOT mark the spot in this case. *hehehe*

Gotta say that the majority of bookstores suck in Perth, hence my obsession with The Book Depository.

  20. K. Z. Snow says:

Sharks have been known to swim into the city. No lie. And the jellyfish!

Guess it wouldn't be a proper river without sharks and jellyfish. O_o How about crocodiles? And clouds of tsetse flies in the air?

No wonder Heath Ledger was on drugs.

[Sorry, Castanet crept up to the keyboard while I was tending to Nathan.]

*smiling sweetly* I'd rather you visit him too.

    Gawd, that was SO predictable…

  21. JenB says:

I could've sworn I read “teste flies” in KZ's comment.

Heh. I'd like to see that.

  22. K. Z. Snow says:

JenB, now that would be a guy to avoid contact with! 😀

  23. Tracy says:

Yes Jenb but how do they fly with the huge balls?

  24. Mumma J says:

    Hey Sissy…

You rock as a cartographer and don't listen to anyone who says differently.

And, here was I thinking that everyone knew that Perth sits on the mighty Swan River.
