maybe it’s me, but…

funny-pictures-cat-time-travels

During the past week, I’ve had some seriously big, heh revealing, deja vu moments.

A number of book blurbs have rung the ‘hey, I’ve read/watched that story line before’ bell.

And I’ve been playing the prediction game with some reviewers, ie what they’ll say and the descriptive phrases they’ll use time and time again to say it.

I guess you can’t really be surprised there’s going to be a certain amount of repetition in the book blogging world.  I mean we all know we’re going to see the same book reviewed to the gazillionth degree when it’s just been released.

But so many deja vus in such a short period of time??

It’s just been weird.  Even for me.

So have any of you experienced periods when it’s just been deja vu after deja vu?  Or is it just me?

If I’m being that repetitive, tell me! But yeah sometimes I think we go through periods where everything is recycled. I feel like there hasn’t been an original book idea in a while. Don’t even go there on movies – since they’re all repeats or stolen from books anyway. I’m struggling to read something new and different but not seen it yet.

I honestly think if you’re in this genre (or any one really) you come back around to the beginning.

Of course, I will tell you. Are you forgetting (har. har.) who you’re speaking to?

“I honestly think if you’re in this genre (or any one really) you come back around to the beginning.”

I agree. I keep waiting for the crazy female stalker to return to m/m. I think I might actually miss her. Or I’m tired of fucking shifters. One of the two.

No increase on the deja vus but I have had that something it not quite right feeling for a couple of days now. I keep waiting for bad news or something *shrug*. Maybe it is just the flow of things?

    Kasie 😉

I’m a firm believer that things happen in threes, especially when it comes to bad things. Sometimes I think I make up the third thing just to get it over with. Hey, whatever works, right?

I’m sure I have phrases I use all the time. I have removed “lyrical prose” from my vocabulary but I know I have stock phrases I use when I’m running out of more original words. 😀

    • Kris says:

So, basically you’ve just admitted that you’re a deja vu reviewer. I demand to see evidence of stock phrases!

      • kaetrin says:

I’m pretty sure you’ll find something along the lines of “the characters were engaging” in quite a few of my reviews! 🙂

        • Kris says:

And by ‘engaging’ I’m guessing we should read ‘I’m trying really had to find something that I actually liked about them’.

          • kaetrin says:

LOL, you’d think so but no. Actually I mean it when I say it but I’m conscious that I need to find new words to express the idea. It’s getting a bit repetitive.

            • Kris says:

What about ‘So your book/writing/characters/blah/blah didn’t totally suck for reasons. Some of these (in no particular order) were…’?? I think it could work.

Um, better that than the Matrix sort of deja vu?

It could be just real you know. Some of the early published books are getting republished by other /new publishers. They have a shiny new covers, perhaps some re- edits but the blurb stays the same.

    • Kris says:

I’m very conscience of the re-pubbed books. No, these reminded me specifically of a book and a movie. One had a similar setting to ‘The Hunger Games’ and the other was a movie… I think I saw that blurb on DA. It was a het romance. I wonder if I can find it again…
