tasting ‘nut cream’

For those of us who are into shifters and shorts at the moment. *g*

Besides… ‘tasting Nut Cream’?? My inner teenager is giggling like crazy.

Nut Cream by Jade Buchanan

The Blurb:

Two men and a bottle of nut cream…

A Midsummer Night’s Steam story

Nut [nuht] noun, verb.

1. A dry fruit consisting of an edible kernel or meat enclosed in a woody or leathery shell.
2. Slang, Vulgar – a testis.

Cream [kreem] noun.
1. A soft solid or thick liquid containing medicaments or other specific ingredients, applied externally for a therapeutic, or cosmetic purpose.
2. Slang, Vulgar – to have an orgasm.

Toby Madison is coming into his mating phase, and is leaking pheromones all over the place. He is about to find out what happens to bad little wolves, in the best possible way. Cliff Bullen is more than ready to place his mark on the man he has always wanted as his mate – with a little help from a bottle of nut cream.

Why I bought it:

This was one of the first m/m romances I purchased and read. At the time, I thought the short format would give me enough of a taste to see if I was interested in reading more of the genre.

Dislike/like (ending on a high note):

Dislike~ Some readers might not like this because it has a ‘let’s be mates’ theme. Having said that, it is NOT a ‘let’s be mates but I’m not gay’ story which may make it more believable/acceptable to those of you who raised your eyebrow.

Like~ I do enjoy a romance involving an older, more experienced protag with a younger, more innocent character. Of course, the squicky factor must be low. For some reason I’m also a fan of the falling for the BF of an older sibling scenario. Again, it should be convincing. *ponders* Maybe I like it so much because I always wanted an older brother for the purposes of providing bodies for insta boyfriends, dates to dances, etc. Could be. 😉

Dislike~ Too. Short. Wanted. More.

Like~ I’m superficial enough to admit that the sex in this is friggin HAWT. Plus, the smutty pictures that title conjures… too cool. *g*

So, what I think:

This is one of the shorts I pull out of the virtual library whenever I’m in the mood for a short, sharp and sexy breather.

‘Tasting’ is my version of a mini-review where I talk a (very) little about what I liked and disliked about a book as well as who I think the story will appeal to. Oh, and I’ve added a bit about why I picked up the book in the first place – sometimes this can be interesting to know.

About Kris

Reads, rants, randoms & R+s. You've been warned. BTW, don't follow me if you're a GLBTQQphobic wanker. It won't end well. For you.

Okay, I will check this one out. I have read all the ones that come with said smutty cover except this one. Something about it seemed to not appeal. But next time I’m buying shorts I will get this one on your recommendation.

Oh, mates? No problem. Age difference? No problem. GFY? No problem. Takes a lot to turn me off. LOL

  2. Kris says:

Get it. It’s good. I really like this author in a short format.

Hun, you ain’t hard to turn off. You iz just a plain perve.

  3. Kris says:

BTW, I’m still obsessed with that new tv show. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched that trailer. *sigh*

  4. Tam says:

Shhh. Don’t be spreading word of my perviness. You’ll tarnish my image. 🙂

Well, of course I’ll miss the premiere tomorrow night so I’ll be checking out sidereel with you.

  5. Kris says:

Yeah, yeah. Everyone thinks that you are all cute and innocent. *rolls eyes*

Tomorrow?? You know I have the patience of a gnat right??

  6. Lily says:

    I loved this little story.

I’ve actually got a thing for the mate/shifter stories, they can be so freaking HOT!!!

Thanks for reminding of this little gem, I’ll have to read it again.

    Lily 🙂

  7. Kris says:

I’m glad you liked this one too, Lily, and the reminder about it. 🙂

I have a thing for mate stories too. When they work, they REALLY work. 😉

I think I’ll do a post about my fave ones. What do you think??

  8. Jenre says:

I’ve not read anything by the author before, but this sounds like a fun, sexy read. Plus it’s short which suits my current short attention span!

Thanks for a succinct review, Kris.

  9. Kris says:

Always happy to pimp to you, Jen. 🙂

So, what the hell is with all us that we all appear to be toy poodles at the moment??

  10. Tam says:

Yeah, you’d think that with summer coming those of us in the north would settle down but we’re all feeling antsy and reading shorts. Oh well, this too shall pass, like a bad kidney stone. 😛

  11. Tracy says:

Just the name…Nut Cream. How can you not like it? lol

Great tasting. I really like the “we’re mates” story line. Why? I have no idea. Maybe just the thought of that one person being you’re other half. I know some hate it but I really enjoy it. 🙂

  12. Kris says:

Tam: Like a bad kidney stone?? Geezus, Tam.

Tracy: I know. It has the best name. LOL.

I’m so doing the post about ‘mates in romance – the best of’. I feel inspired. 🙂

All those who are superficial raise your hands. LOL.

  16. Ingrid says:

I always have to laugh when reading this:

<>“Are you coming or not?” Mick’s irritated voice interrupted.
“Not yet,” Cliff crooned in Toby’s ear. “But your brother is damn close.” <>The whole anthology is fun btw. excellent summer reading

  17. Kris says:

    *snicker* Yep, too funny, Ingrid.

I think I’ve read 3 of the 4. Another fave of mine is Ally Blue’s “Catching a Buzz”. It’s kinky fun. *g*

  18. Lily says:

Oh yes, I loved Catching A Buzz too 😉

  19. Ingrid says:

    Agrees, very funny!

  20. Kris says:
