Remember Turkish oil wrestling??
Tam’s post about food in m/m romance seemed to hit a number of people’s, umm, buttons. Quite frankly, who can blame you all because what’s not to like about this combination. *GRIN*
Inevitably, given the number of perves who seem to read this blog (ie Lily, Jitterbug and Tam), a couple of comments were made about the various applications to which food stuffs are put in this genre.
Yeah, yeah. It’s probably more associated with erotica in general than with m/m specifically. Still, one is definitely left with the impression that boys will use just about anything as lu-, ummm, moving on.
Let’s talk turkey or oil (get it?? I kill me), butter, garlic dip, pesto, cream, chocolate, ginger, anything and everything you can recall being used in a smexy sex scene that sent your heart racing.
My one?? The scene which immediately springs to mind is from M L Rhodes’ Falling where the two main characters are in the kitchen, one thing leads to another and… well, who knew ice could be so hot… *fans self*
*Phew!* Anyway, give. What’s your fave scene?? C’mon. Surely you guys aren’t going all shy on me now?? š
Kris + Books = Good. *Sometimes*. 
Well, there is the Crisco scene in Ally Blue's Where the Heart Is. I can never look at a container of Crisco the same way. *blush*
TA Chase's High Line had a hot scene using honey although in reality I think the sticky factor would be too much for me, but it reads good.
Food and sex go together well. And yeah, ice is hot, not that I'd know or anything being all innocent and unpervy. š

oh, oh, I just read Heaven Sent 2: Purgatory. A fine use of butter as a lubricant if I do say so myself. š
My favourite has to be the use of sun tan lotion in A Dangerous Thing by Josh Lanyon.
I also like the use of butter in Purgatory by Jet Mykles and in Secrets, the fourth Psycop book by JCP.
The use of garlic dip in A Bit of Rough by Laura Baumbach was actually a bit of a turn off and the Crisco scene made me feel ill!
OK, so sun tan lotion isn't actually food, but it's an unusual item for a lube substitute anyway!

There are just certain things that shouldn't be used. And garlic dip is one. Butter too. However, ice works. There was an interesting scene in Bent š

You're right of course, it was garlic dip and not pesto in Roughhousing. I mixed them up :). When I read that passage I thought it was a weird choice of… erotic use of food. I mean… really, an orgy of smells š
As I said commenting Tam's post I'm rereading the PsyCop series, and I'm stuck with a scene from Camp Hell in which Vic and Jacob christen the kitchen at four in the morning… using margarine. O_O
Somehow margarine seems wrong to me. I mean at least butter is natural. But how could you eat toast again after that? LOL

There is this kitchen scene in Knowing Caleb from Cameron Dane with olive oil. It's messy.
On the non food dept there are also some scene's with gun oil.

I'll go with the general butter and olive oil. I liked the scene in A Bit of Rough although not what was used. Garlic?? Yuk
