hibernating

So, I’ve been absenting myself for the last little while in an effort to not inflict the major grump *yep, even more bitchier than usual if you can believe it* I was having on everyone else.

Yeah, picking on LB was fun and all, but a combination of PMS, a flu-y thing, crappy sleep, a sick kitten *again* and then watching the last season of Torchwood (OMFG!!!) did not a happy Kris make. 😦

A day of pampering on Friday and a gazillion books – not a crappy one in the mix *YIPPEE!* – has gone some way to easing my duldrums, not to mention getting the shock of my life when the Daddy asked me out of the blue yesterday why hadn’t I told him that I reviewed gay books for someone.

Jesus. Wept.

NOT the phone conversation to be having when I’m chattering away on the mobile and driving at the same time. *My baby brother is sooo fucking dead when he comes home.*

Anyhoo… because sometimes you just gotta laugh at we peeps who love romance I’m sharing the below with you:

One of Tam’s friends showed me this t-shirt. I want one. 🙂

This is from Sarah Rees Brennan’s website. I read her book The Demon’s Lexicon yesterday and thought it was fab.

Oh, and here’s a couple of cowboy cookies I found whilst researching for LB. Enjoy!

PS – You’ll be glad to know that I asked my hairdresser about the mouldy hair thing. She confirmed that it was a big fat lie. *g*

About Kris

Reads, rants, randoms & R+s. You've been warned. BTW, don't follow me if you're a GLBTQQphobic wanker. It won't end well. For you.

Don't even talk to me about Torchwood. I am still in mourning for Tara MacLay, and look how long ago she snuffed it. I will be wearing the black armband for years.

But that picture makes me happy.

  2. Ingrid says:

Kris it's good to hear you had such a good day reading. The Demon book seems interesting. At first, because of the picture, I thought it was a website where they had thought up all sorts of nasty endings to well known books/stories in stead of the happy ones they have now.

Seems like your whole family is sucked into this m/m thing *g*

  3. Kris says:

Sean: Aww, are you one of the tortured Tara fans are you? Poor baby.

    Which pic?? The cowboys??

Ingrid: It's been an awesome weekend of reading. The Demon book is great, especially in terms of twisty goodness. I had absolutely NO idea where it was headin at all. You know how I love it when that happens. 🙂

“Seems like your whole family is sucked into this m/m thing *g*”

Well, I am responsible for getting the Daddy hooked to “Torchwood” so I guess that kinda counts. LOL.

  4. Tam says:

Arrrgghh. I am missing Torchwood. Grrrr. Have to wait till I get home. Was it not good? Please tell me it was good.

Yeah, totally awkward conversation. LOL Ah well, he'll live.

I saw myself two live cookies at the Botanical Gardens yesterday. They were so damn cute. But I like your's too. 😀

Hope you and your kidlet are feeling better.

  5. Jenre says:

I totally missed out on Torchwood, but after reading all the misreable tweets/blogs about it, I'm now quite glad about this!

Glad to hear that you're feeling a bit better missy. Long may it continue!

  6. Ana says:

Aha! so glad you liked Demon's Lexicon, I thought it was fab too. and I love all the icons from her site – specially the one with the “Do Demons Have Disco Fever?” LOL

  7. Ozakie says:

U know I never heard of Torchwood till Sarah told me about it. I have to check out a few episodes so I can join the party however late I am.

  8. K. Z. Snow says:

Lord, I hope all of Torchwood is rerun in the States. I've missed just about every episode, because the TV is constantly being monopolized by JLA and/or his son. It's kind of a shitty series, actually, but worth watching just in case Barrowman kisses something.

Seriously, I like that man's technique.

  9. Tam says:

KZ, I watched the first two seasons on-line. I suppose I'll have to watch this one too unless Space is rerunning it when I get home. I can hope.

  10. Kris says:

Tam: I thought it was really good, but it was absolutely devastating. Like always, Capt Jack is more than he appears and HUGE sacrifices are made. It will leave you reeling.

The Daddy wanted me to rename the blog 'Kris, Two Cats and a Gay Book'. The boys in this family think they're so friggin funny.

Aww, cookies in the garden. How sweet.

Jen: Forget about what they say. Watch it! Regardless of the VERY challenging themes and secrets revealled, etc, I think it is by far the best season of “Torchwood”.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm hoping the grump is disappearing.

Ana: You PIMP!!!! You knew without even asking that I discovered the book from your site. I also read “Evernight” over the weekend. You and Thea are seriously killing me!

Ozakie: I predict you will become a fan of the delicious Captain Jack Harkness. 😉

K Z: I thought the series was pretty shitty myself from what little I had seen until I was intrigued enough to check out the entire thing from the get go and became totally obsessed with its campiness, how out of left field it was and some great themes that you just don't see on the telly.

Then, of course, there is Barrowman's kissing. Yummy.

  11. Tracy says:

omg feeling bad and THEN a call from Daddy? Holy Cow you've had it bad! I'm glad the pampering and the books made you feel better – they always seem to work for me.

That t-shirt. I love Ed but I would LOVE that t-shirt! lol Too funny.

Torchwood – need to watch. Maybe while on vacation at my sissy's. hmmmm.

  12. Kris says:

I think the phone call from the Daddy shocked the the majority of the blues right out of me. LOL.

Your pressie helped enormously with my pampering, btw. Thank you, hun. 🙂

I was with what little of the family is left in Australia for a gathering yesterday and laid some pretty massive hints about wanting the t-shirt for either my b'day (30 Sept – write that down if you haven't already) or for Christmas. I'm golden. 😉

    Torchwood – watch it!

  13. orannia says:

    (((Kris)))

Don't you just hate days like that? At least you had some good books to keep you company!

And I love the t-shirt…but I'm a Team Jacob gal the whole way 🙂 One of my local librarians has offered to lend me New Moon, but I had to tell her what Team I was on first. Luckily I picked the right one 🙂

  14. Anonymous says:

    Hey Sissy

Poor you, the boy child blabbed to the Daddy, huh? LOL I can imagine his reaction, oh to be a fly on that wall!

Oh well, now you don't have to worry about anyone else. You know that the G'dad thinks you are the best thing since sliced bread and can do no wrong. GOOD TASTE I'd say!

  15. Kris says:

Thanks Orannia. Yes, they're very poo, things are on the mend and, as you said, I had some great books to keep me company. LOL.

So you are a Team Jacob girl are you?? I have to say that Movie Jacob looks very tasty w/out all of his hair. If you like 'em young that is. 😉

  16. Kris says:

    Hey Mumma

Baby Brother is in my shit book. I rang him and had a go at him and his response was 'you're not ashamed of yourself, are you?' I hate him. *pouts*

G'dad may not be happy with me since I forgot our date tonight. Stupid meetings that give you headaches and interfere with your private life. 😦
