Chapter 2

*looking towards the head of the mob*

“Uncle, why is Father taking me to the conclanfab? I’ve always stayed behind with the elders and joeys before. It seems strange that he would now bring me to such an important session.””

“I don’t know, Albie, although *seeing a lone Roo making its way back to them* I have a feeling we’re about to find out.””

###

“You do realise that big Red bastard is up to something, Cam.””

*snort*There’s no doubt in my mind, Brett.” *continuing to watch for signs of the Red Kanga Clan while talking*

“With our Clan more dispersed and open to integration with humans than the Reds, we are not as affected by the annual Culling.””

*going on* “I know I don’t have to tell you that most of those hurt or killed during these times are either due to accidents or elders who have returned to the ancestral lands. This makes me all the more suspicious of Big Red’s motives.””

*tensing*They’re here. Tell the others to be on their guard and make sure everyone has changed to their animal form. Let’s not start things off on the wrong paw.””

*muttering*Pretentious wankers.”” *salute* “Will do, Cam.””

*moving forward*

“Greetings, Big Red, Leader of the Red Kanga Clan.”” *inclining head*

“Greetings, Cameron Grey, Leader of the Grey Kanga Clan.”” *returning acknowledgment*

“As per your request, the Grey Kanga Clan has come to discuss THE CULL with the Red Kanga Clan.””

*angry murmurs from Red Kanga Clan* *Big Red raises paw to silence the mutterings*

*raising kanga eyebrow* “Are the Greys so impatient like the humans they associate with then that they do not follow the traditional greetings?””

“Unlike you Reds, many of us have actually interrupted our lives to meet with you today.””

*whisper from within the ranks of Greys* “Jesus. So much for not getting off on the wrong paw.”

*stares at Cam* “Very well. The Red Kanga Clan has been decimated by what our healers say is a mutation of the human’s swine flu.””

*bows head* “We had heard of this and are sorry for your losses. However, I still don’t understand what this has to do with the Greys or THE CULL.””

“Our numbers have fallen to such an extent that we cannot afford to lose anymore to THE CULL.””

“And?””

“We want the Greys to provide bodies to meet the quota for this year’s CULL.””

  1. Sean Kennedy says:

    Yay, Sirk's back!

But what are HIS thoughts on washcloths?

  2. SIRK, THE AUTHOR says:

Thank you, Sean. I grew weary of the stalking and pleading from you and others.

As one author to another, I advise you to not involve yourself with your readers on a day-to-day basis other than to gracefully accept their accolades. This is what I do.

Also, I reject all forms of societal definitions of so-called sexuality, therefore I prefer not to be addressed as a male or a female. I am only Sirk.

  3. orannia says:

So much for not getting off on the wrong paw.

ROFLOL! Thank you Sirk! And, like Sean Kennedy, I am interested in your thoughts on washclothes 🙂

  4. SIRK, BEST SELLER OF WEREKANGA FIC says:

Orannia: You are welcome, although I do not understand what there is to laugh about.

Re: washcloths – I choose not to engage myself with Kris' 'maybe it's me' posts as I believe it enables her behaviour.

  5. Anonymous says:

Hey, too cool. I just emailed you for the next Sirk Saga AND checked your blog and there it was – a new chapter. Now don't get me wrong here but I have no idea where this is going.

    Just wondering…

  6. Ingrid says:

Oh dear, from what hole did Sirk arise?

*clears throat* of course I have to thank Sirk once again for a entertaining episode on the lives of were-kanga´s.

  7. SIRK, M/M AUTHOR EXTRAORDINAIRE says:

Kris' Mumma: I do not give spoliers nor do I play favourites. You can wait along with my other fans.

  8. SIRK, READER FAVOURITE says:

Ingrid: Given the second half of your comment is acceptable, I shall give you the benefit of the doubt regarding the first.

    Do not push me.

  9. Ingrid says:

    I am getting scared now!

  10. Kris says:

You should be, Ingrid. She scares the hell outta me!

  11. Ingrid says:

You should be, you are a lot closer to Sirk. I am on the other side of the globe *g*

  12. Kris says:

True. I am thankful however, that she is for all intents and purposes agoraphobic. Only leaving her home to undertake research trips to observe her beloved kangaroos.

  13. Sean Kennedy says:

Kris, how do you know despite Sirk's protestations, that s/h/it is a she? Is this one of those m/m literary scandals where a woman is trying to pass herself off as a gay man?

  14. Mumma J says:

    MMMMmmmm…

Interesting question Sean! What do you say to that Sissy? Oh sorry – I mean Sirk.

AND when do I get to meet this up and coming, soon to be famous (in what century?) author?

  15. Ingrid says:

Mumma, I understand the illustrous Sirk is agoraphobic so you will have to visit her/him/it.

  16. Kris says:

From what little I know of the reclusive Sirk, I am 99% per certain that Sirk is as unimpressed by questions about Sirk's sexuality as Sirk is by smartarsery.

  17. Tam says:

Ohhhh. What will happen next? The drama is building. This is so exciting.

  18. Lily says:

    Sirk

Thanks for another great chapter in the continuing saga of Whitey and the were-kangas.

  19. SIRK, THE ILLUSTRIOUS WRITER says:

Kris: From what little I know of the reclusive Sirk, I am 99% per certain that Sirk is as unimpressed by questions about Sirk's sexuality as Sirk is by smartarsery.

    You are correct.

To the others, I am The Sirk. That is all you need know.

  20. THE AMAZING SIRK says:

Tam & Lily:I thank you for taking the time to add your positive thoughts. It is readers such as yourselves that make dealing with all of the rest of the commentators worthwhile.

  21. orannia says:

You are welcome, although I do not understand what there is to laugh about.

I'm sorry Sirk 😦 I should explain – I was laughing with joy at being able to read another exciting installment! I understand your research takes time, and as an artist I cannot begin to understand the pressure you are under, so I try to patiently wait for each chapter. Unfortunately, my enthusiam got the better of me.

Thank you for sharing with us.

  22. SIRK, M/M FIC GREAT says:

Orannia: I like you the best so far.

  23. Kris says:

    *muttersuckupmutter*

  24. Tracy says:

“Let's not start things off on the wrong paw” Great line, Sirk. I use this with my little ones all the time. 🙂

  25. Mumma J says:

    For Ingrid

“you will have to visit her/him/it”

You would think that Kris would introduce the great SIRK to me considering I am a frequent visitor.

  26. Ingrid says:

Mumma, some things are best kept hidden *g*

Did you see Wave accused Sean of writing were kanga stories??

  27. THE MAGNIFICENT AUTHOR SIRK says:

Tracy: And I'm sure that your joeys are well behaved because of it. Well done.

Kris' Mumma: I do not live with Kris.

Kris' Mumma & Ingrid: This is meant to be about Me and MY Work. I do not appreciate other author's being discussed on My Dime.

  28. Tracy says:

Hey Sirk – were you at the Kansas City Zoo today because my girls saw kangas and I think maybe they got a picture of you!

  29. SIRK, WEREKANGA EXPERT says:

Do not be silly, Tracy. I am not a werekanga. In point of fact, werekangas walk among us. This means they cannot be found in zoos.
