my m/m rut challenge: a reminder

Just a reminder that the deadline for my awesome m/m ‘get me the fuck out of this rut’ challenge is up on 17 March.

How it works (again):

1. Pick a book from an m/m sub-genre or in a style (eg 1st POV) or form (eg graphic) that you usually avoid like the plague. This includes those of you who want to pop their m/m romance cherry as part of the challenge.

2. Read the whole story. No DNFs allowed.

3. Write a review – long or short – and do the linky thing back here. For the peeps who don’t have a blog you can put your review in the comments section. (I’ll do a post specifically for these reviews/links on 18 March.)

4. Once it’s over and done with all those who participated will be put in the draw for a $20 ARe voucher.

5. I’m even giving away $20 for the person who reads the most books out of their comfort zone.

Now get cracking!

PS – Don’t forget that author Aleksandr Voinov has kindly offered a free copy his novella Test of Faith co-written with Raev Gray to a reader interested in dipping their toes into the m/m historical waters.

About Kris

Reads, rants, randoms & R+s. You've been warned. BTW, don't follow me if you're a GLBTQQphobic wanker. It won't end well. For you.

  1. Chris says:

Just to clarify, should we leave the link to our review in the comments, or is simply linking back to the Challenge post sufficient?

  2. K. Z. Snow says:

Can't wait to read these! (Of course, I've already read Tam's, since she's so efficient she got hers finished, like, last year. *g*)

  3. Tam says:

    I am amazing aren't I?

  4. Val says:

Eeeek, I'll do the next challenge whenever that happens!

  5. Kris says:

Chris: Please leave the link in the comments. That will make it much easier for dealing with Randy when it comes to dealing with the prize side of things.

Tam: Yay you! And, yes, you're pretty damned amazing… but you need to do the link thing on post on the 18th!! Geez.

  6. Kris says:

KZ: I'm looking forward to it too, especially in relation seeing everyone's thoughts about the types of stories that they wouldn't ordinarily choose to read.

Val: You still have time! *mutterifIhavetoyouhavetomutter*

  7. To be fair, it's my co-writer Raev Gray's and mine novella (around 25-27k). πŸ™‚

  8. Kris says:

EH, cool! *g* God, I hope that I remember to add all these links to the post on the 18th.

Aleksandr, thanks again for your generosity and for that info. I've corrected my post. πŸ™‚

  9. Tam says:

What link. 18th of Feb? I'm confused.

Isn't my hottie in the pink shirt nice today?

  10. Kris says:

    Sorry for the confusion, love.

Since the deadline for doing the reading and reviewing for the challenge is the 17th of March, I will do a post on the 18th for everyone to provide the links etc there. This means there will be a one stop post for all the reviews and will also make it easier for me – most important of all – to do Mr Randy's randomiser thing to work out who wins the voucher.

All you have to do is repost the links to your review on the post on the 18th. Does that make more sense??

  11. Kris says:

Oh, and yep that is one pretty cookie. πŸ™‚

  12. nichem says:

Oh man, I didn't know I had to write a review too. I just thought I had to read the book (which I did, btw). Umm, does posting a star rating on GR count? Or will, “It was good, I enjoyed it,” suffice? πŸ˜›

  13. Kris says:

Why do people keep on asking me questions and expecting me to know things?! You'd think I'd actually thought this through in detail and not made it up when I was bored. *poutmope*

Ok. A three sentence review minimum, which you can either do here or at goodreads.

Do you read me, Richelle?! THREE. SENTENCES.

  14. orannia says:

Why do people keep on asking me questions and expecting me to know things?!

    Umm….because you always know *grin*

I'm sorry I haven't joined the challenge. Bad orannia, no biscuit 😦 My current book is taking a long time to finish. Next challenge (since I can always count on you Kris to challenge me – that's a good thing BT πŸ™‚

  15. Chris says:

Whew. I think I managed 3 sentences on my reviewettes for the challenge so far. Got it. The 18th. Of March.

  16. Kris says:

Orannia: “Umm….because you always know *grin*”

Are you taking the piss?? You have 10 days (nearly) you can do it! I double dog dare you. πŸ˜‰

    Chris: Good. You. Smart. Arse.

  17. Kassa says:

Oh hey Kris.. I meant to tell you, I need another book. That one I got tagged to review for TDB and the review wont be up in the rotation in time to meet your deadline. I did read/review it though!

But if you gimme another I can squeeze it in.
    πŸ˜€

  18. Kris says:

Kassa, I had to go back to the original post to remember what it was. LOL.

How about taking Aleksandr up on his offer for his historical novella??

Leave a Reply. I dare you.
