‘guess who’s who’ competition (updated)

So, I was bored *always such an exciting way for one of my posts to begin* and came up with a bloody amazing competition with the help of a group of fantabulous m/m authors.

Guess Who’s Who

What’s it about?

You know how some authors use pictures as the inspiration for characters in their stories (also known as novel casting)? Well, I happen to have in my hot little virtual hands a few of these images and now it’s up to you to try and match these pics with the actual characters themselves.

I know who they are. The authors know who they are. But you have to guess.

Mwahahahahahaha!

How to play?

1. Match one pic with one character/book. The character images are all labeled by a number and the characters/books by a letter. Give your answers via comment or email along the lines of 1A, 2B, etc. Name me no names, pretty please.

If you haven’t read a book, click on the link to read the blurb and/or excerpt. This is a guessing game. You won’t be marked on your knowledge but you won’t win the prize if you fuck up. Promise.

2. You get one chance and one chance only. No changes can be made once you hit that submit/send button and you certainly can’t delete it and try again. I see all.

3. No hinting whatsoever in the comments or anywhere else. If you do, I will get seriously pissed and automatically disqualify you and delete your comments. You’ve been warned.

4. Guesses must be received by 12noon Saturday 22 May 2010 12noon Sunday 23 May (Perth, Western Australia time).

5. *sigh* No, participating m/m authors you can’t play and that’s that.

The Kitty:

S/he who gets the most matches correct wins seven ebooks generously donated by said group of fantabulous m/m authors, including Wren Boudreau, Stephani Hecht, Jambrea Jo Jones, Sean Kennedy, Jaime Samms, K Z Snow and Angelia Sparrow.

Guess Who’s Who

The Pics:

3. 4.

5. 6.

7. 8.

9. 10.

The Characters:

Please note that one pic shows the two main characters, but only one of their names has been listed below. *hehehe*

B. Rave from Jambrea Jo Jones’ Retribution

C. Rat from Stephani Hecht’s Savage Awakenings

D. Nick from Angelia Sparrow’s Nikolai

E. Pablo Creed from K Z Snow’s Utopia-X series

F. Kain from Jambrea Jo Jones’ Retribution

G. Michael from Wren Boudreau’s Ice Cream on the Side

H. Win from K Z Snow’s Utopia-X series

I. Simon from Sean Kennedy’s Tigers and Devils

J. Ashton Perry from K Z Snow’s Jude in Chains

Remember that you must send me your guesses by 12noon Saturday 22 May 2010 12noon Sunday 23 May (Perth, Western Australia time).

Disclaimer: All images used for “inspirational” purposes. Any similarities to RL people are a coincidence unless they were intended and in that case feel free to sue the author in question. Thank you.

PS – I’m pretty sure that no RL people were harmed in the process of these novel castings. If they were that’s not my fault either. Mwah, Kris.

YAY! Thank you for playing, Mariana, Chris (that could've been funny) and vslavetopassionv. You're all on my good boys and girls list. *beams*

  3. Unknown's avatar Chris says:

Actually, I notice that without intending to do so, I have one actual word, one personal pronoun, and one word that just needed a K to be real. 😀

  4. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

Chris: You gonna tell us or what? 🙂

  5. Unknown's avatar Chris says:

    HEC(K) I JAB

with misc letters DFG. If I do a scramble, I can turn I into FIG, but that still leaves a spare D. Hmm.

  6. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

It could be: JAB FIG, CHED!

Fig being one short for 'Yowzer. Not even a fig leaf would cover that!'

Ched being someone saying Chad with a weird accent.

Jab, I'm pretty sure speaks for itself.

  7. Unknown's avatar orannia says:

OK. This will be completely guessing and I haven't read ANY of the books.

*SIGH* What I do for love! *sniff*

  16. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

*nods* One of many, and varied, gifts.

  17. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

EH: How can I say no since you asked so nice. That would be mean of me when I'm trying so hard to be nice this week. To everyone, but Jen that is. Oh, and Sean, but he doesn't count.

    I s'pose. *poutmope* You sure I can't talk you into taking a guess…

“How the hell do you guys come up with these great ideas? I really am impressed, this blog stuff's hard!”

You may have noticed that my mind works in weird and wonderful ways. Things come to me in a vision… and when I'm bored. LOL.

You think of something, hun, and I'm there! *g*

  20. Unknown's avatar Tracy says:

I haven't read but a couple of those books. Too Hard.

  21. Unknown's avatar Amora says:

Of course I do, I wasn't lying. You should know, I would NOT have done that for just anyone. But I like your brand of bitchy.

Your visions rock by the way. And I'll totally think of something, lol, just not quite this grand. Gotta do it this week…oh, the pressure!

  22. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

    Tracy: JUST FRIGGIN' DO IT!

    *deep breath*

Amora, my dearest. *smooches and snuggles* It is true that my bitchiness and randomness are the stuff of epics. *grin*

Contact me if you need an idea-bouncer-off-er. I love getting to know stuff before others. Oh, and helping too. *beams*

  23. Unknown's avatar Ingrid says:

All the replies make me curious about the correct answers coz nobody has the same combinations

  24. Unknown's avatar Patti says:

Oh, and I've put up a pre-competition post today: http://krisngoodbooks.blogspot.com/2010/05/guess-whos-who-pre-competition.html. There are freebies to be had, but you need to get in quick! It closes in a couple of hours.

  34. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

Herlihy: LOL. Don't apologise. I've had a couple of chats offline about how we readers picture the characters differently to the way they do.

Half the fun of this comp is getting an insight into their heads. Well, not so much into KZ's. 😉

  35. Unknown's avatar hdsmith says:

I am new to your site, found you for the first time through Sean Kennedy's blog and this game.

I have laughed and laughed and been a smidgey bit skared at your threats. I do now bow to the pressure, and the temptation of free books with the following guesses

Beth: Thanks heaps for playing! Since you've only read one book, why not go enter today's contest to try and win a freebie? You know you want to. 😉

  38. Unknown's avatar hdsmith says:

I just thought I was rightly thrilled with joy by your awesomeness…then I just spent the last hour reading all your posts back to October of 09.

I am now truly overwhelmed by the Joyitude I have experienced at Your Awesomeness.

The F*cktard Publisher post about the Aussie copies of JD Robb books…I laughed till I cried literally, and I am pretty sure that I snorted at least three times.

Is there a petition / interview process for becoming a minion?

  39. Unknown's avatar Juniper says:

Thought I could live without cookies & stick to chocolate, but am in eye candy withdrawal. Now if you happen to have chocolate covered cookies?

Have you forgiven everyone enough yet to resume normal service?

    Love my veri – 'porkus'

  40. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

hdsmith: There's a waiting list and a lengthy application process where you have to prove how much you love me every day for a month.

I will add your name in anticipation of your agreement, especially given how much I rock.

Juniper: “Have you forgiven everyone enough yet to resume normal service?”

No yet, but I'm preparing cookies in all kinds flavours as we speak. 🙂

My blogger veri is even more potty mouthed than I am. I know. Who knew that was possible.
