I’ve only read one book in the last month and a bit.
I’m in major McSlumpity territory.
The last thing I want, therefore, is to be getting updates of all the gazillion books everyone else is reading.
It’s like goodreads is deliberately taunting me.
The fucking wanker.
Okay, then I'll give you un-readerly news. I spent all last night, planted in front of the TV. First I watched Glee and then Raising Hope. Although, Blaine from Glee ticked me off a little last night, he more than made up for it when I saw his pictures in Cody's issue of Out.
Any handy yaoi? You can just look at the pretty pictures…
Stephani: LOL. I'm sure that Cody appreciates the fact that he can have a perve with his Mumma. π Granted, though, that those photos are might fine indeed.
Chris: Dontwanna. *poutmope*
How about just staying away from Goodreads?
It's an Occam's razor kind of solution. Know what I mean? (If not, don't worry. I don't know what I mean either. I just like the phrase Occam's razor.)
I have been reading and Good Reads annoys me. LOL I hate when people add 1000 books to “want to read” and every single fricking one comes on the weekly update. I don't CARE which books you want to read and seriously, I don't want to disappoint you but if you add 75 books every week you better be immortal cause no way are you going to read them all.
I think I'm going to unsubscribe from that update thing.
KZ: You keep asking me if I know what you mean and I'll start getting a complex. Rudehead. π
Tam: You can pick and choose some of the stuff you get updates for, but it is still damned depressing when you see how many books are being read, added, whatever.
I'm taking a break from Goodreads updates right now since I am initiating another book-buying moratorium. In other words, I'm too broke to be buying books. Ugh.
I wish I had a suggestion for you. Other than reading, the only other thing I can think of to fill the time is looking at peens on Tumblr, but I have a feeling you're already doing that. π
Eyre: “Other than reading, the only other thing I can think of to fill the time is looking at peens on Tumblr, but I have a feeling you're already doing that. ;)”
Geez, what gave me away??
er, sorry. *shrugs guiltily* π
Sorry you're in major McSlumpity territory. That does not sound fun at all!
Umm, guilty as charged. I can't help using GRs since it keeps me organized. I get and promptly delete (unread) the email notification with updates and only skim the feed itself.
Hope you leave the land of McSlumpity soon!
Would it help if I posted on GoodReads how slowly I'm reading? *grin*
I second the looking at pretties π After all, isn't a picture worth a thousand words? (I'm sure these are worth far more π
I hate when people add 1000 books to “want to read” and every single fricking one comes on the weekly update.
Word!
Kaetrin: *sociopathicrainbowtroutstareofdeath*
Lily: *muttershouldhaveknownmutter*
Orannia: These cookies are definitely worth their weight. True.
“I don't want to disappoint you but if you add 75 books every week you better be immortal cause no way are you going to read them all.“
Heh. I imagine it makes some authors feel good, though. “Oh, look, a hundred people plan on reading my book! Only…it might take a while, because each of those people has about 3,000 other books s/he plans on reading.”
Know what I mean, Kris? You should, cos that's an easy one.
Hey, don't feel bad about your slump. I've been trying for three weeks to get through one book that was supposed to be fabulous. Yeah.
KZ: You wanna be smacked or what?!
“I've been trying for three weeks to get through one book that was supposed to be fabulous.”
Hell, I'd be glad to even be in that predicament. At least, I'd have something to bitch properly about then.
I still like GRs :P.
Stick to Tumblr, my dear. Either that or dig out a couple of shorts which you can read in 15-20 mins, it might kick start the reading.
*hugs*
I'm having the opposite problem– I've been actively searching GR for something good to read. I want to read, but everything sounds meh. And the few books I've started recently I quickly became bored with. I don't know if it's me or the books. *sigh*
At least GhosTV came out today– that should be good. Of course my mind, being the sieve that it is lately, can't remember the first 5 books so well, so I prolly need to re-read those first. And that just sounds like a lot of work. π¦
Btw, you know you can edit your GR feeds on the site to just show certain people when you log on, right? Also, just skip the email updates they send you. π
Re read Black Wade. Not much text and lots of pretty pictures.
Those updates are not from me! Like Eyre I shouldn't be buying any new books. I did buy With Abandon but that doesn't count does it?? It will only be released next month
*gasp* where did you get that picture of my Nosey? He loved it when I rubbed his nose… *melancholic smile*
I'm among those who skip the GR updates newsletter…
I don't know why you can't read anymore… but maybe you can try an audiobook? It leaves your hands and eyes free for Tumblr. π
Jen: Good idea about the shorts. Is there a review site you could suggest that may have some recs for shorts? π
Richelle: I'm a professional skipper so trust me when I say I KNOW I can skip the email. Doesn't stop me from seeing that friggin' subject heading though. *sigh*
“At least GhosTV came out today…”
True that, and someone who luvs me muchly gave me a voucher to JCP to get it. Fingers crossed it kick starts my mojo.
Ingrid: Not even Black Wade is tempting me.
I must be dying.
Janna. My boys love it too. Feliks gets what the BB and I call 'scrunchy nose'. His nose goes all wrinkly when you touch it. Too cute. π
An audiobook you say?? I might have to ponder that one as multi-tasking sounds like pure win to me. π
I have a ton of new books to read, but with this move, I can't seem to get my brain to work. π¦
I'm hoping after we get settled & such that I'll want to read again. *sigh* Right now it's comfort rereads, because that's the only thing that's working for me. π
Not even comfort reads are working for me at the moment, Bridget. *sigh*
Hopefully, you will settle in and get your mojo back too. *hugs*
Go to damnyouautocorrect.com… it makes me giggle.
I love getting updates on goodreads on what everyone is reading, I just add them to buy to-read list π It gives me hope π I have been lucky with some of the books I read because of someone else's posting.
I've been in sort of a funk since the beginning of the year. I'm reading, just can't get excited about the books I already own. It taking me a while to pick books, and I've been using goodreads as a gauge on what will keep my interest. It's hard though, and the money I've been spending… maybe I should stay away from goodreads -_-
Mariana: It sounds as though you are trying to convince yourself. LOL.
LOL π I'm a mess lately with books. It's hard to get excited about most of them. It's not even that the books are bad… I just have no (whatever) to pick any up. I have been spending a lot of money in the last few weeks on books…. but nothing that I'm soooo excited about.
On the whole I love goodreads, it is a nice source for getting book recommendations. I've just been sort of blah over it all.
What's been even more upsetting is that I've fallen out of love with a few series I read. I find myself asking what the point is… makes me sad π¦
I've found reading short-stories to be helping somewhat. Hope you get your mojo back π
I have no… whatever… to pick up anything either. *sigh*
It's horrible when you break up with a series. I've done that with a number over the last couple of years. It's worse than breaking up with a boy/girl or going on a diet even.
I really hate diets too.
Although a number of the series I've broken up with got so bad that it was a relief to break up with them…
Chris: An amicable breakup as opposed to irreconcilable differences??
Well, a weird combo of the two.
