random, but bloody important, awesomeness

I’ve already posted this on my tumblr, but wanted to share it here as well.

This is an extremely powerful, not to mention awesome, ad I saw for the first time during the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras last Saturday.

All of us need to stop kidding ourselves this issue is about anything else but equal rights.

Get up, Australia, and join me and others who will be rallying for marriage equality on 19 March

It’s time.

About Kris

Reads, rants, randoms & R+s. You've been warned. BTW, don't follow me if you're a GLBTQQphobic wanker. It won't end well. For you.

  1. I love this post. If I lived over there, I'd sure be rallying on the 19th.

    Thanks for sharing this video.

  2. Matthew says:

Too bad I'm not down under anymore. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

  3. Tracy says:

Wonderful video, Kris. Thanks for sharing, hon.

  4. Ingrid says:

    Great video Kris ๐Ÿ™‚

What makes the people in Oz hesistate against gay marriage??

  5. Kris says:

I'm glad you all like it as much as I do.

Ingrid: Fundie conservatism and three national political parties which encourage fear of the unknown despite what individuals within the party ranks think and what their constituents think for that matter.

  6. Chris says:

*sigh* So the whole religious fundamentalism thing isn't just a US thing?

  7. Kris says:

Chris: Nope. Don't think it's anywhere as bad here as it is in the US – that's my perception anyway. I could be wrong and it's just more, erm, subtle.

  8. Ingrid says:

Kris, that surprises me too. I was under the impression that it wasn't that bad in Oz. That it would be more like the UK.

We have them here too but they are such a minority ( 2 seats in the parliament consisting of 150 seats) that they can say things but that doesn't make in impact.

    Keeping my fingers crossed!

  9. Eyre says:

    That is a great video.

  10. Kris says:

Ingrid: Maybe it's not as overt and there are definite parts of the community who aren't this way at all, but it's still there.

    Eyre: It is. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. ElaineG says:

I never have and never will understand the idea that it's up to OTHER PEOPLE to say it's not ok for ANYONE to marry. Being in love should have a happy ending for anyone that is lucky enough to BE in love, and if that includes getting married, why should anyone else care? Celebrate lovers don't segregate lovers.

Thanks for sharing, I would rally if I lived in Australia, as I do anytime I have the chance here in the US.

  12. Lily says:

Great video. Thanks for sharing, Kris!

  13. Kris says:

Elaine: “Celebrate lovers don't segregate lovers.”

I love this. So awesome. And I totally agree. Love is love is love.

    Lily: Welcome, hun. ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. orannia says:

Thank you. I'm with you in spirit on the 19th and will definitely be supporting the same here.

  15. Kris says:

    *two thumbs up*
