For some reason I’ve been sleeping like poo lately and, as a result, my brain has turned to complete mush. *I fear the oozing out of the ears will begin soon.*
Anyhoo… before I give you *and me* a cookie in reward for surviving yet another week, I thought I’d hook you in to some recent posts about cover art. Particularly pertinent as I’ve been taking the piss out of them lately:
* Emmy found some book cover spoofs and shared them here. I really like the Sandra Hill one. I’m also pretty sure I have the sense of humour of a 12 year old boy sometimes. 😉
* On a more serious note, via Val of Obsidian Bookshelf (have you checked out her blog yet? it’s great. 🙂 ) I found an interesting essay about book covers and their creation and composition by artist Fanny Hill. She includes examples together with an analysis and/or response – both positive and negative – of covers she’d found online. Quite intriguing to get an ‘in-house’ perspective on this topic.
Now, without further ado,
my your our cookie:
I call it ‘Turkish Oil Wrestling – The Natural Aftermath”.
Kris, Thanks for introducing me to the Obsidian Bookshelf! Another great blog to visit..In fact you are the one who got me into reading Jenre's blog as well..;-)
It's all about the pimpage, baby! 😉
On a serious note, Ozakie, Val has some great posts – tips as well as pitfalls – about writing that you might find helpful. They certainly make for interesting reading from a reader's perspective too.
Thanks, Kris, for the compliments and linkage
— and for the cookie! Best, Val
No probs, Val – for the comps, linkage and the cookie! *nom, nom, nom* I'm a great fanlurker of yours. 😉
Quite like cookies. :p
Me too. *GRIN*
I love cookies. Sigh.
Those book covers at Emmy's were pretty funny.
Hope you sleep better soon.
Cookies are good for you. Pull my finger. Hee hee.
At the moment, I'm thinking copious amounts of red wine will help with my sleeping. I will report back tomorrow.
I think that one guy is wearing rubber pants. I suppose that makes it harder for the other guy to get a grip when you are all oily.
You all should check out this site — http://tiny.cc/UCRv7 — if you liked the covers Emmy posted. As many times as I've been there, I still laugh myself into tears.
Many thanks for the oily cookies, Kris. I love succulence. *slurp-slurp…mmmmm*
Damn you KZ. Now I'm giggling like a mad woman in my office and I'm getting the stink eye from colleagues. I'll have to give them the link so we can all giggle together.
The tag line for the Mountie one kills me “How could he tell her he had no friggin' clue where they were.” BWAAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Aren't they great, Tam? Oh, I wish I had Photoshop!
Tam, you do realise that you used oil and rubber to describe the picture without any nudges and winking. Are you feeling ok??
K Z: I gigggled my way through the covers. My fave was 'For the Love of Scottie McMullet'. Fucking hilarious.
“Many thanks for the oily cookies, Kris. I love succulence. *slurp-slurp…mmmmm*”
The list of things to say is endless: the entire gamut from 'finger lickin' good' to 'oil makes everything go down easier'. O_O
LOL, loved those covers.
Thanks for the yummy cookies, most delicious 😉
Cookie good 🙂 And I'm sorry to hear that you aren't sleeping well. Stress perhaps?
why is Cookie choking that unconscious dude on the ground? Bad Cookie! Das not how you do breath play!!
Lily: So maybe the oil DOES make them more tasty. LOL.
Orannia: Cookie monster sasy “me want more cookie”. Tee hee.
Stress?? Could be. Also, too much on my mind I guess. The brain's twirling.
Emmy: Perhaps the kitteh should take the cookies to the kitteh cave and teach them proper like. Kitteh should also make videos for, yanno, education and stuffs.
