I can't even read the letters. Looks like someone one LSD created it.
Goat girl voms up nuclear explosion laying in field. Oooookay.
Jen: Yeah, it's an, err, interesting one that's for sure.
Katiebabs chook: I know! It's strange that you would create a book cover where you can hardly make out what the title and the name of the author is.
I think it needs more yellow and purple in it for it to be psychedelic. 😉
Tam, ooooh. Is that what it;s about. It all makes sense. Not.
Changeling Press has competition!
LOL. Sarcastic wench.
That should not surprise you. 🙂 Plus I've spent the day with my family, doing the holiday last gasp.
That cover has allowed me to reach nirvana. Just had dinner with Jesus, the Easter Bunny and Elvis.
Okay. Chris is on family-induced sarcasm overload and Katiebabs chook is tripping.
It is obvious that the cover is possessed with strange and mysterious powers.
And possibly why people are unfriending me like flies because the content of this blog is high brow so it can't be that. *snort*
Because I want others to reach Nirvana like I have done, I will be posting this cover on tomorrow's WTFckery post at my place.
I kind of like it. Who needs to read the words? (Now please pass that doob.)
Katiebabs chook: I'm sure that people will be very grateful.
KZ *passes it over* I agree. Words are highly over-rated. When is that picture book you're doing out again??
I survived! But now my brain is breaking thinking of KZ's picture book… maybe you meant yaoi?
Well, it is true that KZ is a huge, ginormous fan of yaoi, but… I promised I wouldn't tell…
*scratches head* I thought a cover was meant to entice you…interest you in picking up the book. I'm not sure what that cover is saying, but it's not that IMO!
And possibly why people are unfriending me like flies…
They are? Why? Now I'm really confused…
I need to work out how to friend people…I've been on blogger for a year and haven't done it 😦 *slinks away*
Hard though it may be, Orannia, I think some may find me crude and uncouth.
As to the cover, apparently it is meant to induce psychedelic flash backs as evidenced by Katiebabs chook.
Crude and uncouth? Well, I suppose everyone is entitled to their own opinion…I like you just the way you are 🙂
Sweetie, couth is deadly dull.
Oh, and Kris. Giving me the link to Rain on Roof was bad…very bad…
Thanks, Orannia. 🙂
And, hey, if I have succumbed to the time suck that is Sarah's pron blog. I figure all of you should. It is evil and delicious at the same time.
Chris, yeah, that was my conclusion after being emo about it for about 15 mins. It was closely followed by 'fuck 'em if they can't take a joke'.
Ow. It burns.
Did the blue fire breathing cow lady get you Jen? Or have you been rubbing your eyes after touching tabs again??
I'm just sitting here shaking my head and trying to figure out what kind of drugs the person responsible for that cover was high on.
Lily, the consensus seems to be LSD. I guess that would explain the imagery…
Huh…like a bad acid trip from the 60's. lol
Or so we young ones have heard, right Bridget? 😉
LMAO!! Thanks for all the comments on the cover, folks. The cover art for Welcome To Mundania (and yes, I'll admit the title is hard to read), was based on the album art for the Heat Flash Erotica Podcast, where that collection of stories originally ran (http://www.heatflash.libsyn.com).
While it might seem otherwise, neither the cover art nor the podcast were produced under the effects of drugs 😉
Thank you all again for the feedback on the cover!
Helen, I have to admit that my initial response to your comment was 'oh, it's an album cover'. Apparently that was explanation enough for my little brain. 😉
Thanks for taking the time to comment and for being such a great sport about our total irreverence. 🙂
Honestly, I would have preferred to take some time to work up a new cover for that book, because the cover doesn't really convey the contents. However, we had a tight deadline and since the book was associated with the podcast, we went with the album art, which we knew listeners would recognize.
You guys are spot on with the feedback here. The text is hard to read at thumbnail size, and I should have caught that before sending it out to the publisher. As for the artwork, it is an acid trip, but then so is the podcast (I write sci-fi/fantasy/horror erotica). A lot of the stories on Heat Flash are just as trippy, if not more so. And quite a few would make you go o_0.
Thank you again!! I enjoyed reading everyone's comments.
