maybe it’s me, but…

Those of you who know and love me are totally on board with my theory about the dramatic rise of urban fantasy/paranormal genre being the lead up to the Big Supernatural Reveal happening in 2012.

Katiebabs chook’s post the other day made me wonder whether They – you know, The Powers That Be – have perhaps taken the whole thing a little too far.

I mean, saturation of the market is all well and good, but there is such a thing as familiarity breeding contempt.

Let’s face it, the Supes are all gonna be pretty pissed off when they are greeted with ‘yeah, nice chompers, but do you sparkle’.

Just sayin’.

At least the True Blood contingent won't be demanding sparkle.

    My veri word: prowl. 🙂

  2. Amora says:

Interesting theory you,ve got there. I just hope there aren't too many sparklies after the change. I'm all about the fang, but…

    Have a good one :))

Ha! My first good veri word. Yay me. My word… crave. 🙂

  3. Eyre says:

I'm off vampires for right now. I would be watching True Blood again this season, but I had a little tiff with the cable company. Oh well, I guess I can wait for DVD.

  4. Hmmm never thought about your theory that way.

Perhaps the end of the world in 2012 means the rise of hot smexin sparkling vampire man for someone like me?

  5. …and this is why I watch Trublood

Confession: I have seen (and enjoyed) all the Twilight movies *hangs head in shame* And WILL be seeing Eclipse.

  6. I happen to possess 4 Eclipse midnight premier tickets. But I have a love of BDSM, M/M and pain. Does it even out?

  7. I'm all confused. Does your theory entail that we all turn into supernatural beings after the Big Change? Hmm, hubby as a vampire *dreamy look*

  8. Kris says:

Chris: Good point. However, there may be a rash of slayings in order for people to get their hands on some of that aphrodisiac blood.

Amora: Maybe the Big Reveal will result in a battle between the sparklies and the fangs??

I love have Blogger Veri seems to come totally on board with my posts. LOL.

  9. Kris says:

Eyre: So you being 'off' vampires is not self-imposed? For about one second I was proud of you.

Katiebabs chook: “Perhaps the end of the world in 2012 means the rise of hot smexin sparkling vampire man for someone like me?”

You will need to get through the hoards of Twilight Mums first. Just sayin'.

  10. Kris says:

KC: *snort* You are a study in contrasts, my love. On the one hand liking the down and dirtiness of True Blood and on the other sighing over sparkles and wolf boy abs.

Miranda: “I happen to possess 4 Eclipse midnight premier tickets. But I have a love of BDSM, M/M and pain. Does it even out?”

You mean going to see Eclipse won't be torture enough?? 😛

  11. Kris says:

Janna: “Does your theory entail that we all turn into supernatural beings after the Big Change?”

Not necessarily all. Just that the supes among us will reveal themselves.

I'd start watching your hubby closely.

  12. Patti says:

I think the shapeshifters will be greeted not with fear but with “Let me see you change”

(I may own a certain sparkly doll who lives on my “keeper” shelf :O)

  13. Kris says:

Patti: “I think the shapeshifters will be greeted not with fear but with “Let me see you change”.”

LOL. I think you're probably right. I also think that there will probably be a lot of tempers being lost. 🙂

“I may own a certain sparkly doll who lives on my “keeper” shelf.”

Isn't that a rule if you want to live in New Orleans? 😛

  14. Lea says:

Um, I think sparkles are silly? Sorry Kris I'm out of the loop on this one so I'll have to agree with you. lol

Veri word: micalose – good vampire name. 😉

  15. hdsmith says:

Totally off topic did – you ever read Anne McCaffrey's PeeTayBee. Thought just stuck in my head when I read your post. Love McCaffrey

Joss Whedon is truly one of the great minds of our time and when the sparkles have faded away His genius will remain.

Aside from the whole world domination 2012 reveal, which as a faithful minion in training I do humbly acknowledge as as prescient greatness, if they are going to do it you would think with all the mind bending powers and stuff that would get better writers – a lot of the Supe stuff not so good.

veri – ghenes; Do you think the g is silent?

  16. Kris says:

Lea: Well, everyone should agree with me anyway. 😛

“Veri word: micalose – good vampire name.”

Sounds like he might be an ancient Greek.

Heidi, oh favoured of minions: I've read other series by Anne McCaffrey, but not that one. Why did my post remind you of it?

“Joss Whedon is truly one of the great minds of our time and when the sparkles have faded away His genius will remain.”

Amen. Wasn't it his birthday yesterday?? It should be made into an International Holiday.

“… a lot of the Supe stuff not so good.”

zOMG, Heidi. Surely you cannot be questioning the PNR and UF bandwagon? If you're not careful, Ghenes, the latest creation of J R Ward, will get you. Just warning you.

  17. hdsmith says:

PeeTayBee – the name of the planet in the series was a play in the phrase Powers That Be. If you have not read her Rowan Series get the to the Library. She may be the Dragon Lady of Pern, but I like the Rowan series even more.

I missed the Great Ones Birthday – Dang it! In his honor I now utter a made up phrase of cursing in Chinese. He may not(yet)have his own holiday but your own adjective – whedonesque- pretty fraking cool.

veri- syclowpo – cylops clown hybrid

  18. Kris says:

Heidi: Snap! I never got into the Dragons series, but I loved the Rowan series. I also enjoyed her Ship series, especially the first one. I thought that was terrific.

Having his own adjective is pretty damned awesome… and I now feel like having me a Malathon. *GRIN*

  19. “I'd start watching your hubby closely.”

I always do. Well, for other reasons, but still. 🙂

    Ps: what are supes?

  20. Chris says:

Janna: Just a short way to say supernaturals.

  21. Am avoiding Twilight for religious and political reasons.

Am so far behind on True Blood Bill and Sooky have done no more than kiss.

Still writing some urban fantasy. Still have a drunk PI and her annoying cousin demanding I do three books for them.

  22. Thanks, Chris!
Sometimes my Dutch brain can't handle all the shortenings you guys use, LOL!

  23. Kris says:

Janna: “I always do. Well, for other reasons, but still. :)”

    🙂

Angelia: I've only watched part of the first season of True Blood before I gave it up because I can't stand Anna Paquin in the role of Sookie. The books are much better anyways. And, yes, I'm quite aware the I might stoned to death for saying this.

    Is your UF m/f, Angelia??

  24. orannia says:

    ROFLOL! Oh I love it!

I must confess to wanting to watch Eclipse, but for the werewolves NOT the vampires!

But eventually vampires will be on the out and something new will emerge…I hope 🙂

  25. Kris says:

Orannia: “… but for the werewolves NOT the vampires…”

It's all those shirtless boys. You perve.

“But eventually vampires will be on the out and something new will emerge…I hope :)”

    I'm hoping it's centaurs. 😛
