I don’t know about you but I’ve run the gamut of mixed emotions in the last week or so with regard to recent events in the US.
There is no question that I’ve felt horror, anger and sadness; however, I’ve also been unbelievably honoured to watch the messages of hope which are being given to young GLBT people by their peers and elders through such projects as It Gets Better.
It is quite simply one of the most inspiring things I think I’ve ever witnessed.
So, being in a contemplative and hopeful mood, I decided to again post this clip of a favourite song of mine.
Enjoy.
I love that song! Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if people could be free to live and let live, love and let love? Thanks for reminding us that there's hope even when we're deluged with sadness.
That was sweet. I wasn't expecting the end, which made it kind of…sweeter.
As an aside, I wasn't expecting that great smile.
You know I love that song. π
I love that song. hell…I love that whole CD and listen to it every day.
He does have a great smile, doesn't he Patti! He is very nice too. I emailed him a couple times. lol
I agree…the message of hope is wonderful.
I love this song too! And honestly, because I will NEVER understand hatred……
“What so wrong with that?”
That's the question, and the only answer I will ever have is: NOTHING! There is nothing wrong with love. Ever.
I β€ U.
That's one of my favorites songs. So sweet.
Didn't know that song. It's wonderful and sweet and moving.
Thanks for posting. π
Great song. While the reason for all of the attention is tragic, I'm glad it's not being hidden, that people are being outraged by what is happening with bullying and how sad that kids feel there is no choice. Maybe it will be the start of a change. I am hopeful.
Wren: Hope is everything. I so believe that and this song is perfect for expressing that.
Patti: Jay Brannan has a glorious smile.
Chris: LOL. Yes, since it was you who introduced me to it. π
Jambrea: You emailed him? How cool. π
I know it might sound cheesy but I really feel like I'm baring witness to something that is just so unbelievably amazing the effect of which will be felt for some time.
Elaine: “”What so wrong with that?”
That's the question, and the only answer I will ever have is: NOTHING! There is nothing wrong with love. Ever.”
No. There is not. Well said, Elaine.
LB: I β€ U 2. π
Eyre: Mine too. I adore it. π
Lilli: I'm so glad that I was able to introduce you to it. It is a wonderful song and Jay Brannan is a terrific artist.
Tam: “While the reason for all of the attention is tragic, I'm glad it's not being hidden, that people are being outraged by what is happening with bullying and how sad that kids feel there is no choice.”
I agree. I think that one of the reasons why I'm such a huge fan of the It Get's Better project is because it empowers by giving hope, by urging people to remain strong and true to themselves. I think that's so important to hear whatever age you are, but especially when you are a teen.
Thank you. Love and Hope… two things everyone deserves. Everyone.
Jen: “Love and Hope… two things everyone deserves. Everyone.”
Indeed they do, particularly the children of our world.
*clicks your Like button a hundred times*
(Not to be confused with your love button. But I'll click that too if you ask nicely.)
HAHAHAHA!! Captcha was “epica”! YES!
*rolls eyes*
I was only kidding. π You know I worship the ground you walk on.
(captcha “sculking”)
'Bout time you admitted it publicly.
Kris,
Such a beautiful song! I never heard of it or the artist. Thanks for the introduction.
I too have mixed emotions about what is going on here with the suicides. I soo wish I can tell those teens the moment that the thought of killing themselves was implanted in their minds to JUST HOLD ON. IT DOES GET BETTER! I want to tell them that some of those so-called bullies would be the ones who come to the 10 yr reunion GAY themselves (I marvel at the # of my former classmates who have came out as gay and lesbian. Shocking to say the least) I want to tell them to DONT CONFORM OR BLEND IN. BLEND OUT! Its the people who are “different” that often changes the world.
Thanks for the video,
Ozakie
Ozakie, I'm so pleased you like the song. It's so beautiful.
“I want to tell them to DONT CONFORM OR BLEND IN. BLEND OUT!”
Yes! Besides wouldn't it be fucking boring if we were all the same. π
Have you thought about posting your own video on the It Get's Better you tube channel, Ozakie? I think you would give an awesome message. (((HUGS)))
