random awesomeness

Proof that anyone getting an opportunity to travel the coast highway between San Francisco and Los Angeles should just do it and fuck off everything else:

Bloody amazing.

  4. Kris says:

Stacy: I would like to take full credit, but with a view like that… It was so beautiful.

    Do eeeet! 🙂

LB: Me too. I was really worried initially because of driving on the other side of the road and stuff, but I seriously think that this is one of the best things I've done.

    Leontine: Welcome! 🙂

  5. Tam says:

Oh wow. But that bridge? Eeeeek! It's so beautiful. Glad you are having a good drive down.

  6. That is lovely! Thank you for sharing. Hope it is putting a little bit of peace in your head… I know scenic views like that always seem to stay with me for a while. 🙂

  7. Hilcia says:

Absolutely Kris! One of the most beautiful road trips around. Enjoy!

  8. Kris says:

Tam: That bridge was actually the one before the truly scary one. LOL. The drive is fantastic. I thoroughly recommend it.

Miranda: “I know scenic views like that always seem to stay with me for a while. :)”

That is so very true. It's been wonderful just being able to stop, enjoy the view and take some deep breaths. 🙂

Hilcia: It is! I'm so very glad that I decided to do it. Everyone should if they get a chance.

  9. Chris says:

    Beautiful!

    Thanks for sharing your pics!

I usually take I-5 because it's so much faster, but seeing these photos is a good reminder that sometimes it's worth taking a bit of extra time. I just might have to take the coastal route next time, and it's all your fault! 😉

Glad you're enjoying my magnificent state! I look forward to exploring your neck of the woods one of these days. (Anyone know where that expression comes from? “Neck of the woods”??)

  13. Tracy says:

Oh I love the coast! When we took our train trip in July we saw some amazing scenery – but it went by too fast. I think I'll have to take a car trip now and take my time. Great pictures!

  14. Jason says:

    I looooove those pics! wow!

  15. Jay Bell says:

That second photo makes me think of The Goonies! I think it was filmed up the coast aways, but still… Goonies!

  16. So beautiful – I want to go!!!

“I was really worried initially because of driving on the other side of the road and stuff” I have a friend from Africa who puts a little sign on the dash “Keep Right” when he drives over here 🙂

  17. Jenre says:

Soooooo jealous! Doubly so because England is cold and it hasn't stopped raining since I got back :(.

  18. Melissa says:

I took that roadtrip when I was stationed in Cali, only I went all the way to Tijuana (though I don't remember much of Tijuana:). The most memorable moments of my life happened right outside of Santa Barbabra; I saw my first pod of dolphins…AWESOME! One of the best trips I ever took, and I'm glad you are getting to see it as well!!!

  19. Kris says:

    Chris: Yes. Simply stunning.

Tracy: It is so worth it. 🙂

Jase: Thanks, luv. Couldn't really go wrong with scenery like that.

Patti: LOL. I like your friends idea. I should have thought of that. 🙂

Jenre: Bummer. 😦 It was in the low 30s C today. Warm. 🙂

  20. Kris says:

    Richelle: Welcome! 😀

Jessica: “I just might have to take the coastal route next time, and it's all your fault! ;)”

Go me! *adds Jessica to minion list*

I've no idea where 'neck of the woods' comes from. A British saying?? I'd use my powers of google fu but happy hour and margaritas don't exactly mix. LOL.

Jay: You're right! Mist and all… and now I feel like watching Goonies but it's at home. *sigh*

Melissa: I am so very glad that I did it. It was wonderful. The scenery took my breath away. No regrets and a keeper for the memory box. 🙂

  21. Twimom227 says:

  26. Glory says:

the last pic is so wonderful! i like it very much!!

  27. Ingrid says:

Very pretty pics Kris. You are lucky with the weather.
Isn't that the same road that can be so foggy??

  28. Kris says:

Glory: I'm glad. I think it was pretty much a fluke. The sun hot the camera just right. 🙂

Ingrid: Yep. There were some parts of the coast that were quite foggy and it came in very quickly. Very atmospheric. 😉

  29. Lily says:
