I was bored shitless the other day and trying to work out what I could do when it suddenly hit me…
I could try my hand at this meme thing and see how many people I can suck into my world of procrastination!
I know. Awesome, right. *beams*
So, there need to be rules don’t there… err… ummm… okay!
Rules:
1. Answer all the questions below in either the comments here or post it on your own site. If you post it on your own site you have to come back and give the link here so I/Kris can mosey on over and see if you answered correctly have a sticky beak.
2. You have to tag two other people once your done and pester them relentlessly until they do the meme too.
3. Instead of a meme image thing you have to post a cookie, preferably a twofer. It is an m/m meme after all. 😉
*rubs hands together in glee*
Questions:
1. How long have you been reading GLBTQ fiction?
2. What was the first book you read in this genre?

12. Short or long?? *rolls eyes* And, no, I’m not talking about cocks.
13. Anything turn you off about m/m or is all just glorious smut to you?
14. Finish this sentence. You know it’s m/m twu wuv when…
15. What trope or theme are you heartily sick of in m/m romance?
16. If you could choose any 3 characters for a m/m/m who would they be?
17. What new GLBTQ release are you most hanging out for right now?

19. What do you think we’ll see more of in m/m romance in 2010?
20. Don’t you agree that author Josh Lanyon should kill off arsehole character Jake Riordan?
Tag; you’re it:
Jenre (Cos it’s such fun to pick on you, Jen. :D)
Lily (It’s all about payback, baby. *hehehe*)
Great questions, Kris! I'm looking forward to seeing these two cranking out their answers!
Twenty questions? Couldn't you be more original than that? (A meme *sigh*. Really, Kris. A freakin' meme.)
okay do I gotta answer even if I alredy wrote down all the answers?
And if I do nswer do I have to tag someone…. I'm married… I nag enough (or is that bitch) and cookies? huh.. I don't eat cookies… celery stick anyone 🙂
tish
Gee, thanks Kris. Oh well, at least I know what I'll be posting about tomorrow.
Where are your answers?
I is answering here and I has no friends so can't pester anyone. Oh wait, you pestered the only friends I have. No just a minute, Ingrid – Come on down!!! JenB – wake up and answer this meme before you take the day off tomorrow
1. How long have you been reading GLBTQ fiction? About 15 months
2. What was the first book you read in this genre? I think it was Rush in the Dark by Lynn Lorenz, or maybe Crossing Borders by Z.A. Maxfield – one or the other I think.
3. Are you 'out' as a reader? With some people yes, now my Mom discovered my yaoi and I caught her reading Crossing Borders LOL. My bloggie friends (non-m/m bloggers) know and IRL I don't hide it, The Cross of Sins is sitting right on my desk where anyone can see it and so is The Man Who Doesn't Wear Clothes but when in the staff meeting they said “What is your favourite book?” I didn't jump up and claim … oh hell Psycop series for instance.
4. Ebooks, print or both?Mostly e-books now
5. Do you buy direct from publishers or from secondary sellers? both, I prefer to buy from someone who takes PayPal because it's easier, and sometimes that means secondary sellers.
6. Prove you're a Book Slut. How many books would you say you buy a week? Lately not that many, although I bought 6 shorts last week, but bigger books maybe only 3-5 Ack!!!
7. Are you a cover, blurb or excerpt buyer? blurb combined with excerpt if I don't know the author. Cover may attract me but I've never bought a book solely because a cover is pretty or not because it's ugly.
8. Yeah, you read reviews, but do you actually take notice of them? yes
9. Who's your fave publisher? No clue
10. What about authors? Your top two only!! Damn you – sigh – Jordan Castillo Price and …. too hard. Chris Owen? I don't know. LOL
11. Is there a sub-genre you particularly dis/like? I'm really not into historicals and I think I probably prefer contemporary or paranormal/contemporaries.
12. Short or long?? *rolls eyes* And, no, I'm not talking about cocks. I'm a short story whore I'm told, but I also like medium. 600 pages? Not so much.
13. Anything turn you off about m/m or is all just glorious smut to you? PwP is a turn off, 100 pages of story, 94 pages of sex and 6 pages of plot and 200 more pages to go is a no-go for me. I need some story authors.
14. Finish this sentence. You know it's m/m twu wuv when… he takes a bullet for you.
15. What trope or theme are you heartily sick of in m/m romance? Can't think of anything off hand, maybe “the best friends for 15 years but believed the friend was straight even though he's always been gay too”. How oblivious are you?
16. If you could choose any 3 characters for a m/m/m who would they be? You mean from other sources like movie characters or three book characters? I'd like to see Spock/Kirk/Chekov.
17. What new GLBTQ release are you most hanging out for right now? Not sure, looking forward to KZ's Utopia X book, maybe JL Langley's next wolf one.
18. What GLBTQ book has completely blown you away this year? Crap, I read too many to remember. Maybe Somebody Killed his Editor made me laugh out loud.
19. What do you think we'll see more of in m/m romance in 2010? No clue, more piercings? Did we discuss this? LOL More weird shifters maybe.
20. Don't you agree that author Josh Lanyon should kill off arsehole character Jake Riordan? I reserve judgement
Cookies huh? NSFW really. Although no naugty bits showing. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_m92PV4Uvo64/SvoueVPG8bI/AAAAAAABh-c/T9sn7AYGN9o/s1600/gg5.jpg

4. Ebooks, print or both? – Ebooks.
5. Do you buy direct from publishers or from secondary sellers? – Both.
6. Prove you're a Book Slut. How many books would you say you buy a week? – I'm broke and fighting with my addictions so it's probably 4-5 a month.
7. Are you a cover, blurb or excerpt buyer? – Blurb & excerpt.
8. Yeah, you read reviews, but do you actually take notice of them? – Yes.
9. Who's your fave publisher? – Dreamspinner Press.

11. Is there a sub-genre you particularly dis/like? – I can't stand shapeshifters.
12. Short or long? – The longer the better! And I'm not talking about cocks, either.
13. Anything turn you off about m/m or is all just glorious smut to you? – Surprisingly, I skip sex scenes.

No cookies from me. My teeth are aching.
Val, thanks! It's amazing the things that you come up with when you're avoiding work. 😉
KZ: I was BORED!!!! I'm pretty sure that the thing about 20 questions is the 14th commandment or something.
Tish, yeah you gotta answer. Post your answers in the comments here and no, if you post here you don't have to tag… unless your a meanie like Tam. LOL.
Cookies are good for you, btw. Very. Good. Take a look at the one Tam linked for us. Nommy.
Jen: You're welcome!! I don't have to answer… do I??
Tam, what the hell do you mean you reserve judgement?! Talk about a cop out. Hmpf!
You're just lucky that those cookies you sent are mighty fine is all I'm saying.
“the best friends for 15 years but believed the friend was straight even though he's always been gay too”
Yep, that's whacked alright. I mean you're meant to be BFs but you've never noticed that that the other is actually fucking guys?? Pul-leeze.
Melissa: Et tu?? *sigh* I'll do it tomorrow. *muttersomepeoplearesopushymutter*
Matthew! “Don't you agree that author Josh Lanyon should kill off Jake Riordan? – Good idea”
I luff you, Matthew. I really do.
Having said that…. you CHEATED!! I said 2 authors – count 'em – 1, 2 – NOT 5!!!
*deep calming breaths*
“You know it's m/m twu wuv when… – They badly want to say “I love you” but it's “too soon”.”
*snort* Good one, and very true.
PS – How come no one asks you what you read?
PSS – No cookies? You sick or sumpin??
PPS – You're sooo dreaming about the menage thing.
I certainly don't want Josh to go to jail for murder. He'd have to write long hand with dull pencil and paper and it would take FOREVER to get new books, so I think he should forgo murder. Oh wait, Jake's not real. *eye roll* Not real people, pretend. Get it? Sigh *shakes head*
But cause I love you (and I'm naughty) here's another picture. Mmmmm twins.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y9/ipol28/guys/twins4.jpg
Well crap. I just posted as my kid. That's what happens when I use her computer. So that was me, with the twins. LOL
She seemed to have an appropriate avatar for my message though. 😛
Well crap, I'm not sure the link worked. It looks fun and doesn't end right. I'll try it again and if it doesn't work you need “twins4.jpg” after the “guys/” part of the address.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y9/ipol28/guys/twins4.jpg
That icon is definitely appropriate, Tam. LOL. Tell her I'm stealing it. 🙂
That is a very nice piccie of the those twins. Very nice indeed.
BTW, you could probably go to hell for the pretend thing or at the very least get lynched. Just warning you, hun, cos I love you back and all.

2. What was the first book you read in this genre? – The Front Runner in 1981

10. What about authors? Your top two only!! – Josh Lanyon and that aussie bloke… the only two I buy without reading the blurb.
11. Is there a sub-genre you particularly dis/like? – I can't stand 'were' things…. werewovles yes love them but 'were' anything else eewwww. I did read one m/m about a were horse which was painful on so many levels *shudder*

13. Anything turn you off about m/m or is all just glorious smut to you? – to much sex not enough plot.
14. Finish this sentence. You know it's m/m twu wuv when… – he's still there when you wake up LOL!
15. What trope or theme are you heartily sick of in m/m romance? – the whole find you again after blah years and blah blah blah blah blah blah..
16. If you could choose any 3 characters for a m/m/m who would they be? – Jake Riordan, Gabriel from Uneven as the bread and Simon Murray as the filling… and boy does he get filled. (I'm allowed to dream right? cos I do some seriously nasty things to that boy)
17. What new GLBTQ release are you most hanging out for right now? – The Dark Tide by Josh Lanyon

Sorry no cookies… I'm on a diet and I just finished Uneven so what I'll come up with won't be pretty.
Tish, you are a sad pathetic old woman, not to mention pervy, shameless and an unapologetic Book Slut…
I approve! LOL.
Oh, and you think you can get away with not answering the last question but include that Jake prick in your menage?? Nice try. No dice.
Kris:
You know, guys first ask: “Are you top or bottom? What do you like?” And only after several weeks, if it lasts that long, here comes a big surprise: “Oh, you mean you read, like… books?”
Aww, hun. Men are such bastages.
Okay.
1. You need to stop going out with dropkicks.
2. What are you reading? 🙂
Have you discovered my love of memes, Kris?
Those are some interesting questions and I'll pop on back tomorrow with the link to my answers. I'm finishing up a post now and it's full of cookies. Come check them out in a couple of hours if you'd like.
*sigh* I can't participate in your meme, cuz…I don't read M/M. *ducks*
As for cookies….heh…I'z gots lots of cookies. I might put one on me bloggy just for you. 🙂
Love this! I starred it so I can do it this weekend. Need time. But, lemme answer # 20 for you right now. No way! Give the poor guy a break. He's finding himself. *snort* See how I'm stirring you all up?
Lily: I might have noticed. Just a little. 😉 And I thought I'd get you back for when you tagged me a couple of months back cos, you know, I'm evil like that. *off to look at cookies*
Bridget! What?! Oh hun. You need serious edjucamation.
Cookies!! Yeah, you may have one or two. 😉 By all means post 'em so that I can drool.
The hell, Lori! You just drop in to shit stir and then skeedaddle?!?!
*mutterI'llgivethewankerabreakalrightmutter*
You know, I'm not Jake's biggest fan either, but the more you wish to kill him it just makes me want to hug him and tell him it will all be okay.
Sean: Yeah. Right. *snort* Hug the hunky super macho. Now it's official: Kill off Jake!!! He's a pervert touching inapproprietly twinks in blue mesh!
Matthew, you have got to stop listening to Kris. Do you not remember that post a few days ago where she admitted she lies a lot?
I know she does. But Jake is a dead meat anyway.
HEY!! I said I made shit up NOT that I lied, which are two very fucking different things – thank you very bloody much!
Oh, and Matthew is right, Sean. If you hugged Jake your blue meshed twinky self would be stripped, gagged and chained to a cross in some BDSM room somewhere faster than you can say 'Kris, my lovely, you have my humble apologies for ever attempting to diss you on your own blog. I know you are right. You are always right, especially about Jake Riordan. Now please forgive me I must take my leave and make amends to my sweet and dearest Matthew.'
Kris,
Great… give me more imagarey for my over active pervert brain…. Jake and blue mesh twink in 'fun night in' by Kris… can't wait for the film.
Remember I'm a sad old pathetic woman you can't excit me like that… my heart won't take it 😉
tish
Oh I did send you a cookine in the form of scanned pages:)
I love Jake… there something about big muscley and sadistic that just rings all my simon murray fantasies 🙂
1. How long have you been reading GLBTQ fiction?
18 months, probably a little more.
2. What was the first book you read in this genre?
Secrets, Skin and Leather by Sean Michael. No better way than to start with a bang, eh? Or in this case with a fisting. And I wasn't scared away! I don't know what it says about me.
3. Are you 'out' as a reader?
Mh… my books are not secreted away, but no, I'm not out.
4. Ebooks, print or both?
Both.
5. Do you buy direct from publishers or from secondary sellers?
Both.
6. Prove you're a Book Slut. How many books would you say you buy a week?
I've been very good lately – I'm broke, I cannot spend money I don't have :(. Just 2 books this week. Otherwise, it varies.
7. Are you a cover, blurb or excerpt buyer?
Blurb and excerpt, but the cover is very important if I'm thinking of buying a printed book.
8. Yeah, you read reviews, but do you actually take notice of them?
Yes, and sometimes I wish I wouldn't!
9. Who's your fave publisher?
Dreamspinner Press? But they have a serious multiple personality disorder going on. I wouldn't trust DP as far as I could throw them.
10. What about authors? Your top two only!!
Only 2 names! Not easy at all. I have 5 authors that I love above all others, but well, I'll go with Ginn Hale – she's a genious – and Josh Lanyon – because he wrote so many unforgettable stories.
11. Is there a sub-genre you particularly dis/like?
Nope. I have themes I don't like, some that I hate, but a sub-genre? No, I read everything. Bring it on!
12. Short or long?? *rolls eyes* And, no, I'm not talking about cocks.
Long all the way. Always. *snort*
13. Anything turn you off about m/m or is all just glorious smut to you?
Meaningless and countless sex scenes get old very fast. A book without a decent plot or characterization is a waste of money.
14. Finish this sentence. You know it's m/m twu wuv when…
… you come with a roar.
15. What trope or theme are you heartily sick of in m/m romance?
Two ex-lovers meet again after x years. One of them went on with his life but the other one didn't even have sex with anyone else. Unfair! Unbalanced! I don't like it.
And the “I have every reason to hate you (from 'you're a cheater' to 'you killed my dog'), and I do, but I can't stop wanting to screw/be screwed by you, and we do. At all times.” Please! I hoped to have left this one behind in the m/f universe *sigh*.
16. If you could choose any 3 characters for a m/m/m who would they be?
I don't usually enjoy m/m/m (gasp!) so I wouldn't chose anyone. Maybe an already established threesomes, Chris Owens' guys perhaps?
17. What new GLBTQ release are you most hanging out for right now?
The sequel of Wicked Gentlemen or any other Ginn Hale's book. And yes, The Dark Tide too.
18. What GLBTQ book has completely blown you away this year?
I fell in love with two books, Whistling in the Dark by Tamara Allen and Tigers and Devils by your fellow citizen. And with Hero, which I read for the first time this year even if it's dated 2007. So make it three books.
19. What do you think we'll see more of in m/m romance in 2010?
No idea.
20. Don't you agree that author Josh Lanyon should kill off arsehole character Jake Riordan?
He should at least seriously wound him ;).
Oh bloody hell. Here we are.
http://jenre-wellread.blogspot.com/2009/11/things-you-do-for-your-invisible.html

5. Do you buy direct from publishers or from secondary sellers?
Both
6. Prove you're a Book Slut. How many books would you say you buy a week?
I tend to buy in batches (usually when I can't find anything I'm interested in in my TBR pile). This week, I've bought about 20. Last week only 2.
7. Are you a cover, blurb or excerpt buyer?
For a new author, blurb and excerpt together. For known to me authors, just blurb.
8. Yeah, you read reviews, but do you actually take notice of them?
Yes. Having been burned by bad books early on, I rarely buy an m/m book by an unfamiliar author until I see a favorable review of it by a reviewer I trust.
9. Who's your fave publisher?
Loose ID
10. What about authors? Your top two only!!
Ack, hard to narrow it to just 2. I'll go with Josh Lanyon and Jordan Castillo Price.
11. Is there a sub-genre you particularly dis/like?
Don't like fantasy or historical so much.
12. Short or long?? *rolls eyes* And, no, I'm not talking about cocks.
Long, baby. But not too long 'cuz that's painful (on the eyes!)
13. Anything turn you off about m/m or is all just glorious smut to you?
No scat. Ick.

he loves you so much that he breaks up with you because he thinks you deserve better/ he's bad for you, etc.

17. What new GLBTQ release are you most hanging out for right now?
The Dark Tide
18. What GLBTQ book has completely blown you away this year?
Tigers and Devils, Collision Course
19. What do you think we'll see more of in m/m romance in 2010?
Sigh, probably steampunk. I don't like steampunk.
20. Don't you agree that author Josh Lanyon should kill off arsehole character Jake Riordan?
Noooo! Poor Jake. *hugs him* Did you read Josh's recent Jake/ Adrien interview? Didn't you feel just a tad bit sorry for Jake? C'mon, you know you did– just admit it.
Oops, I forgot to leave a cookie. Hmm, I don't have any pics handy. How about a youtube of some of the yummy scenes from QAF? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uoSN5zK4sU
Tish, absolutely shameless. 😉
So ya think images of alien tentacle sex counts as m/m cookies?
Probably not everyone's cuppa, but funny nonetheless.
Sara: You started with Sean Michael's SSL?? lololololololololololololololol Talk about jumping off the deep end!!
Seriously hurt in a cutt off his dick and give him a lobotomy kind of a way?? Yeah, that works for me too. *GRIN*
Jen: Gee, Jen. You're so fucking gracious about it.
LB: You got tagged? *hehehe*
Ingrid: “Menage books trying to be m/m!”
Hell, yes!! I am so heartily sick of not getting warnings from epubs about girl germs. m/m/f does NOT equal m/m no matter what the friggin' publishers and authors say.
Is the interview done? I thought it was being kept especially for peeps who pre-ordered Strange Fortune?
Richelle: Well. Holy Hell, Richelle. The cookie clip nearly makes up for your pro-Jake crap.
Again with the interview! Where is it at??
It IS for the peeps who pre ordered. Of course I did that.
What Ingrid said. You have until the 20th to pre-order if you haven't yet. The pre-order pack has lots of goodies in it including the interview, a cookbook, and a new Josh short story.
Okey dokey cos you know I'm champing at the bit to read an interview with dickhead and all. *rolls eyes*
You'll be sorry you called him that after reading the interview. 😛
I am afraid she is a lost case Nich
Whatevs. Lemme guess. He shed a few tears, admitted that he weally twuly lubs Adrien and now you all feel sorry for him. Yeah, yeah. Bunch of suckers.
The interview does seem to put a new spin on their relationship. Very interesting, the sadist in me approves. It may not be eviration, but I bet he will suffer *grin*.
Not you too, Sara! The only thing that gives me any hope at all are the words 'sadist' and 'suffer'.
I love when you're bored. 🙂
I'm playing too. http://ahhhhhromance.blogspot.com/2009/11/mm-meme.html
*hehehe* *wanders off to Tracy's*
1. How long have you been reading GLBTQ fiction? Twenty years. Gay romance: When I discovered Scott&Scott's Romentics books. M/M: 2007, when I discovered the PsyCop books, J.L. Langley's With or Without series and Lee Rowan's Royal Navy series.
2. What was the first book you read in this genre? See above.
3. Are you 'out' as a reader? Yes, but not to very religious friends. Anyone I'm out to as bisexual also knows what kinds of books I read and edit.

5. Do you buy direct from publishers or from secondary sellers? E-books from publishers; print books from Amazon or the local GLBT bookstore, Giovanni's Room.
6. Prove you're a Book Slut. How many books would you say you buy a week? Two or three. There are also twenty or so a month I get to read because I proof and edit for the company.
7. Are you a cover, blurb or excerpt buyer? I like an attractive cover, but I really have to like the blurb to want to buy the book.
8. Yeah, you read reviews, but do you actually take notice of them? Like someone said, what a reviewer doesn't like, I might really like, but I do take notice of reviews.
9. Who's your fave publisher? I work for Changeling, but I also buy from another half-dozen e-book publishers. Not to mention print publishers.
10. What about authors? Your top two only!! I also work directly for Jordan Castillo Price (JCP Books), but I was a big fan well before I started working for her. James Buchanan, JM Snyder, Josh Lanyon, Charlie Cochrane — the list goes on.
11. Is there a sub-genre you particularly dis/like? I don't especially care for “Gay For You.” I much prefer if a character is gay or bi to start with.
12. Short or long?? *rolls eyes* And, no, I'm not talking about cocks. Answer: My attention span is probably best for novellas, though I enjoy a well-written short story.
13. Anything turn you off about m/m or is all just glorious smut to you? Guys who are really emotional/cry a lot/generally act like teenaged girls.
14. Finish this sentence. You know it's m/m twu wuv when… They come at the same time, harder then they've ever come before. And come harder than they've ever come before every subsequent time.
15. What trope or theme are you heartily sick of in m/m romance? Not a big fan of the romance plot of Big Misunderstanding separating lovers for ten years. Also have trouble believing that a character could be in his late twenties before discovering that he's really gay.
16. If you could choose any 3 characters for a m/m/m who would they be? I'd love to see Butch and V in an M/M. The Jarheads books are a guilty pleasure for me.
17. What new GLBTQ release are you most hanging out for right now? Still need to get Lee Rowan's Tangled Web. Looking forward to editing PsyCop 6. Looking forward to getting anything new in Syd McGinley's Dr. Fell series, James Buchanan's Taking the Odds series, and Josh Lanyon's Adrien English series.
18. What GLBTQ book has completely blown you away this year? I really liked Caught Running.
19. What do you think we'll see more of in m/m romance in 2010? Shapeshifters, which I'm personally somewhat jaded about.
20. Don't you agree that author Josh Lanyon should kill off arsehole character Jake Riordan? Kill, no. Re-educate, perhaps. Make him grovel at least a little, yes.
Two, Emilie! Two! *mutter, mutter*
Ah, yes. Simultaneous cumming. Always a miracle. Always a sign of twu wuv and the ultimate sexual completion. *rolls eyes*
I knew you were an editor, Emilie, but didn't realise who you worked for/with. You'll read the 6th PsyCop before us all. Yeah, it's a working gig, but still… damn. *turning green*
You are all to (or too?) easy on the rat bastard. The only re-education I think is appropriate is with him as sub and Adrien as Dom.

And only after a debilitating car accident.
Actually, ladies, simultaneous cumming DOES happen. Not a sign of true love, though. But definitely a sign of good chemistry and a sign that both parties know what they're doing. 😉
Happy to stand corrected on the simultaneous cumming, Matthew. Very happy actually cos, hello, hawt without all the twu wuv crap that comes with it and always glad to hear a mate brag about sexual conquests. 😉
Anyway, since you've just volunteered yourself as the Kris 'n' Good Books resident sex expert – yep, you sooo just did – question for you. I was reading this m/m and a couple of tops faked their orgasms… I mean really? Yeah, in theory, but… really??
