Can those participating in The Greatest Yaoi Swap On The Face Of The Planet take a look at the list on the left hand side bar and make sure you’re up with Tam’s awesome organisational skills.
Also, if you wanna play with us, it’s never too late to put up your hand and let us know what you want to read.
That includes those of you who wanna have a go but are a little skerrit about going full cream steam ahead.
Tempted? You know you are. š
Tempted, but utterly ignorant about yaoi, having only read yaoi-themed ebooks (such as Torrid by Morgan Hawke, etc).
I've never read Yaoi and a bit skerrit. What should I expect?
And please don't say cream, cream and more cream.
or alternatively get Tam to send you her nifty excel spreadsheet which is much easier to understand :p.
Oops, I just realised that I sent “Naughty but Nice 1” to Kris instead of Tracy. See, I've already messed up the system.
Now I can't find out where I've saved the bloody spreadsheet either and I think I accidentally deleted the email with the spreadsheet attachment.
Taaaaaammmmmm. Can you send it to me again please, sweetie?
All this is because I have 4 kids. Well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!
LOL Yes, Jen, I'll send it again although I think I have to update one of them that Kris mentioned. I think. Anyway, I'll send you the one I had sent out. Because the good copy is at my office which is off limits this weekend due to construction.
KB: What to expect? Really it's just m/m and I mentioned on my last list of things I've read I think the last 3 didn't even have any smexin'. There is almost always the alpha/beta thing going on, one more aggressive, sometimes a GFY vibe going (never realized he was attracted to guys until X but not always). The age can be pretty young. The one I read they were both 15 (but didn't have sex) and sometimes there is the young with older, but MOST of the time they are both adults although one may be older than the other.
If you want to try we could add you on to the Noodle Shop Affair or Our Kingdom (the 15 year olds but a cute story).
Oh yeah and I better get reading. LOL I did send off four this week, I think Sara, Tracy, Jen and Kris should be getting a book soon.
Chris, you want in?? Just say the word cos I'm pretty sure that Tracy has a couple of yaoi manga which she could send to you.
Morgan Hawke is, I think, probably one of the best western yaoi authors I've come across. Katrina Strauss is also bloody good.
Katiebabs chook: As Tam said some yaoi is more explicit than others we could start slowly and then build up your excitement levels so to speak. š
For those interested this site gives you information about the tropes and themes of yaoi – http://www.yaoiresearchwiki.com/.
Also, if you don't like GFY or dub-con I would definitely say that this isn't for you.
You're so rude to me sometimes, Jen. Despite this, I've fixed up your fuck up.
Tam, I sent off the ones I had to Ingrid and Orannia too so we're off and racing. š
I do like GFY… I might get squicked about underage, though. Hmm.
Chris, we can keep you clear of the boy love (less explicit – usually YA) ones if you want and keep it to the yaoi (explicit).
Re: younger/older pairing – In yaoi, it is usually the younger who is the seme/top/seducer. Yaoi tends to switch/play with the traditional power roles so it's not as squicky as you would think.
You're so rude to me sometimes, Jen.
We both know you love it really. You have this whole masochistic thing going on :).
Lordy, Tam must be one hell of an asset to the Canadian government! š
Maybe she could balance my checkbook.
I wish y'all lived in the U.S. just long enough to receive mail, 'cause I have a buttload of excellent hardcovers and paperbacks I'd love to swap with people. (I used to go to a lot of auctions.)
Ok, how do I sign on to this bit o' crazy? *swigs her koolaid*
I hate it when Blogger chops my Smilies in half. There's something “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” about that.
Seems only to happen here, though. Hm.
Y'know, KZ, some of do live in the States…. š
Kris, I just sent some over to you the other day š
And to Jen.
And I have two here from the first yaoi around the globe that I will sent to Sarah. But I need to buy padded envelopes first. I forgot today š¦
Well, I'm in – I have padded envelopes on hand. š
Jen: “You have this whole masochistic thing going on :).”
Outted again. *pouts*
KZ: *quickly aborts anti-KZ blogger program* Like a small thing like mail costs would stop us from book swapping. LOL.
Some of us having been swapping queer teen stuff and there's a James Lear doing the rounds too. I know Lily was interested in swapping other types of books so if you wanna make something happen we can do it here.
Chris, you are such a book hussy, but why are you drinking antifreeze??
Email me your smail mail, hun, and I'll get Tracy to send you the ones that she has that are looking for new homes. Then we'll talk Tam into working her excel magic. š
Ingrid: Yay!!
Contact info sent.
Hmm. CJ lives a few blocks down my street. She loaned me The Palace of Varieties. I wonder if I could get her addicted to yaoi? Hmm.
Yaoi is definitely addictive. š
I vaguely recall CJ reading yaoi and talking about it on her blog. I think. Maybe.
Hmm. If CJ's been holding out on me…
Fight. Fight. Fight. Fight.
And none of that girly shit neither.
Well, I don't have a lick (?) of yaoi, anyway.
So. You don't have to put out to get some… yaoi that is.
You want in or what?!
Actually, no, forget I asked. Just send me your goddamned address and you'll get yaoi whether you like it or not.
KZ, at this point, be glad she's on another continent, or I think she'd show up at your door and twist your arm until you read some!
Honestly, the cost and effort would be wasted. I have enough TBR books lined up at the head of the bed that we don't need a headboard. Hell, I could probably build a second bed out of 'em! (But I do heartily thank you for the generous offer.)
Just remember those dunked cookies on ahemahemdec2ahemahem.
I resemble that warning, Chris.
KZ, if you're sure, okay. But know that you can jump in at any time, hun. Just say the word.
*writes down b'day date in diary*
I should probably say this cautiously… *slowly backing away*
I tried and have been trying for months to read the two books I got in the first swap and I just cannot get into it… sorry ya'll, it's just not my thing. I give up. I will send them off to Tracy in 3 weeks when I get back to civilization.
That was my comment I forgot to sign my name.
Suzi.
I love the yaoi. Just brought a few more here AND just read Bloodraven. Which is kinda yaoi, kinda scary fantasy hard core smut.
I'd love to participate but the postage would be a mare.
If you've not read before I think Crimson Spell is a goody to start with.
Hi All,
Feeling better š
Just wondering when I send the Yaoi do I have to put the address of the next person on the list?
tish
Hey Suzi. Promise we won't hate you… much. š It's not everyone's cuppa that's for sure so no probs here about pulling out of the swap, you mental person you. *g*
Sarah, I got Crimson Spell after reading your review of it. LOL. It's firmly on my keeper shelf.
Tish, nope. Peeps can refer to their list to find out who to send it to next. š
Kris,
I just got Crimson spell 3…. not for swap š¦
I am posting everything tommorrow š (including the disc)
Can you take me off the swap for Shy Intentions as I just got it.
Cheers
Tish
Crimson Spell 3 is out?? YAY!!!
Amending list now. Thanks Tish!
I'm going to be a busy yaoi bee! *rubs hands with glee*
LOL Jenre! I've printed said list out and have it sitting next to my computer…just in case š It is a great spreadsheet. Tam, I definitely think you deserve a gold star for it š
And yes, the postage is a killer – I know I courier, but honestly it's cheaper than posting from here!
