random awesomeness

No, not about me for a change.

Emilie linked to an article on her LJ, which was full of such total win that I wanted to share it here as well.

Go read it. It’s pretty damned brilliant.

Chris just sent me the link to that article. It is fabulous! I don't even care if the story is true or not, the author makes a wonderful point. People need to let go of their fears and stereotypes.

    veri word: mictizey

That ignorant, idiotic f*ckwit was in a mictizey when he realized that the nice, polite man with whom was was talking was gay.

  2. Thanks for the link. It sure did male me smile!

  3. Unknown's avatar Tracy says:

Oh that was wonderful. Who cares if it's all true or not – it was written brilliantly!

    Thanks for the linkage, Kris.

  4. Unknown's avatar Chris says:

I read that earlier and loved it, too!

  5. Unknown's avatar Amora says:

  6. Love it. Mean it.

Perfect reading while I'm drinking my espresso and munching on trail mix.

    Fabulous.

I love the PFLAG t-shirt as a sports team.

Eyre: Chris sent me a link too. Just saw it when I woke up this morning. Great minds and all that. 🙂

“People need to let go of their fears and stereotypes.”

Exactly, and that's what I loved about this piece – the fact that it hit all of the major stereotypes about 'gays' and slapped an idiot stamp on them.

Miranda: Welcome. I laughed my way through it too. 🙂

Tracy: No probs, hun. As soon as I read it I knew it would appeal to a lot of peeps. It's great.

  9. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

    Chris: We are Khris. 😀

Amora: Glad you loved it as much as I did, hun. You have a great rest of the day too.

  10. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

KC: Did you spit coffee and trail mix out everywhere?? LOL.

Heidi: “I love the PFLAG t-shirt as a sports team.”

I snorted at that too. You would have thought that the guy would have had an inkling about what that meant, wouldn't you. The stupid tosser.

  11. Unknown's avatar Kaetrin says:

Thx for the link Kris. I loved the bit about how he might be surprised but he wasn't in fact irresistible!

  12. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

Kaetrin: LOL. I know. It must have come as quite a shock to the guy. 😛

  13. Unknown's avatar Tam says:

I saw that on Facebook when someone posted it. Very great response.

  14. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

    Tam: Tis very, very clever.

  15. Unknown's avatar Kaetrin says:

well, I know I am constantly surprised by the number of people who don't immediately get naked as soon as they see me given my own amazing charisma and sex appeal so I know how he feels!

    *g*

OMG, could you imagine if there was a person who was really that irresistible? 🙂

  16. Unknown's avatar Patti says:

“Three seconds ago you were running through a crowd of people with your hands cupped protectively over your junk as if I might attack you at any moment with a blowjob” Love it!

  17. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

Kaetrin: “OMG, could you imagine if there was a person who was really that irresistible?”

Well, I don't like to brag or anything, but….

Patti: LOL. I bet a whole heap of me live in constant fear of a fatal blowjob attack. Very scary for them indeed.

  18. Unknown's avatar Juniper says:

Great post, Kris – & that just has to be one of my all-time favourite photos!

Yet another site, though, to keep me away from RL. Love the Adam Hood (ex-gay!) article.

  19. Unknown's avatar orannia says:

What Eyre said! Why is it that some people just can't just accept others for who they are instead of attaching a label to them and making it all about the label.

Thank you so much for posting!

  20. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

Juni: It's a great photo. Tam had it on her tumblr account the other day and I immediately appropriated for my 'special' folder. 🙂

I haven't come across that site before either so I feel much the same way as you. LOL.

Emilie always posts great links and gives her own perspective on issues raised in the articles. I really enjoy reading her opinion pieces. They are very thought provoking. *Thanks Emilie! :)*

    Orannia: You're welcome. 🙂

“Why is it that some people just can't just accept others for who they are instead of attaching a label to them and making it all about the label.”

I think it's because it's easier for people to do this than to actively engage with an issue that they are uncertain about. Unfortunately in this case labels give them certainty. Doesn't make it right, but…

  21. Unknown's avatar Kaetrin says:

Well Kris, now that you mention it…

did you realise you have this effect even through cyberspace?

  22. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

Kaetrin: Well, considering how awesome I am and everything…
