Dear You-Know-Who-You-Are Epublisher
Please note that most PDF makers come with a handy little ‘reduce file size’ option.
FUCKING USE IT!
Sincerely,

About Kris
Reads, rants, randoms & R+s. You've been warned. BTW, don't follow me if you're a GLBTQQphobic wanker. It won't end well. For you.
To make you giggle a litte.. Cookie Monster is at my place today….
And publishers do you know better than to piss off Kris????
Hope you had a great weekend honey!
Huggs and smooches!
Huh. I never have a problem, not that I'm bragging or nuthin'. But then I read on a computer so …
I HAVE TO comment, 'cus the picture is a doctor who reference WOOTIES!!!
oh…and yes, Publisher people, listen to Kris! =)
I agree. I've lost track of the number of times I've tried to convert a pdf to epub, only to be told that the file is too big and it won't convert. Mostly this is due to images being used as chapter headings, or the image on the front cover.
Very annoying, as often these pdfs won't read properly on my Sony for the same reason and I end up trying to read them on my lap-top which I hate doing.
Jenre – I'm with you. Reading pdfs on the SONY is annoying as all hell! But the laptop is just soo big…
Cecile: Your post did make me laugh. Something I needed this morning. Thank you.
“And publishers do you know better than to piss off Kris????”
Tell 'em, Sista!
Tam: ” But then I read on a computer so …”
Well, your bragging doesn't count then. 😛
Claire Bear: Doctor Who rocks! And this pic is teh awesome. 🙂
“oh…and yes, Publisher people, listen to Kris! =)”
Yeah!
Well I am glad I could be of service today! I thought you might like to see your presents at my place! They were adorable! I kept going back for them… but I think the WTF was voted the best, lmbo!
**Shakes stick at Pubs and shakes head** You really should know better… Especially before she had her cookies!
veri: oravall… 0_o oval oral.. hummmm
Jenre: I've had Calibre and my Sony freeze a number of times because of the size of some files. It is unbelievably fucking annoying, especially if you are like me and are doing all this in preparation for a good reading session when the freeze happens. Grrrrrr.
Miranda: I agree as well. For some reason the pdf software that some epubs use makes everything do-hickey on the Sony. Frustrating to the max.
Cecile: I saw that everyone liked the WTF one. LOL.
“veri: oravall… 0_o oval oral.. hummmm”
Hoookayyyyy….
Yeah, that one was the bestest!!! And I can sooooooooo seeing myself say that too!!!
Well, your bloggie gave me the word, I was just working with what I was given, lmbo!
Cecile: My blogger veri has an incredibly filthy mind sometimes. I have no idea why that is.
I have no 0_o clue either… humm… but I am not complaining here.. Remember who you are talking too, lmbo!!! I could make anything dirty!!! ROLFMAO!!!
Cecile: Good point. LOL.
Not from the publisher in question, but I just had one that had a BOLD FOOTER on EVERY PAGE with a LONG anti-piracy warning. I couldn't read the book because my eyes kept getting sucked down to the footer.
Convert pdf to rtf in Calibre. Use word to replace the stupid footer with nothing. Save. Convert back to something my reader likes.
*sigh*
I am totally ashamed that I still read on my laptop.
Chris: That's poo. I mean I understand why epubs are doing things like that, but there is such thing as overkill.
LB: What I want to know is… WHY THE HELL ARE USING YOUR LAPTOP TO READ WHEN YOU ARE MEANT TO BE WRITING?!
Kris: What it achieved was me vowing not to purchase anything from that particular publisher again. Altho… I guess I did have a review copy. So, maybe… But really, I couldn't review it under those conditions.
Well, that's just a mean veri word:
weighu
weigh you
NO!
**revision**
I am totally stoked that l write on my laptop.
Chris: “But really, I couldn't review it under those conditions.”
Nup, or you would have had to mention it in the review and say how totally distracting and jarring it was.
Do NOT mention weigh in. You know I'm on that stupid diet. 😦
LB: “I am totally stoked that l write on my laptop.”
*pats on head* Good little m/m author.
I know! I should be, too.
Stupid word veri is getting mean.
We hatez eet prescioussssss…
Kris, I completely agree with you on this.
There's a certain epub's pdf files that I have issues with. If I don't convert them to epub with calibre, the font on every other page is too small for me to read on my Sony, even if I use the font size button. I'd blame the ereader, but pdf files from other publishers work just fine.
Eyre: “I'd blame the ereader, but pdf files from other publishers work just fine.”
That's it right there. The epubs must either be doing something strange with the formatting prior to PDFing the document or using a PDF program that's different from the others. The fact that so many of us have problems with reading certain epubs PDFs on our Sonys also says it all.
I must have been lucky – I've got a Sony and I haven't had trouble with my pdf files. Mostly. The book I was reading last night had the first letter of each chapter on the next page all on it's lonesome – so the first page of the chapter would be “ll he wanted was to….etc” and then the next page would have a big fat A on it. I got used to it but was glad the book was only 75 pages!
Kaetrin: That's what happens with a certain company who insists on using text images for their chapters headings and the first letter of the chapter. Tis bloody annoying!
ahh – that's what it is! you truly DO learn something new every day!
Kaetrin: Yup. That's why the conversion thingy to the Sony is always funky.
*shakes head*
Love the poster!
Orannia: Dr Who! We ❤ him. 🙂
