m/m graphic novel appreciation series: yaoi cookies (nsfw)

I had hoped to have another of my tastings or a guest post ready for you today, but unfortunately my life has been a bit blechy the last couple of weeks and I’m ill-prepared.

Instead, I decided to share some of the yaoi cookies which I’ve been collecting specially for a rainy day.

For those unfamiliar with the genre, they just might give you a sense of what some of the artwork is like, not to mention how explicit it can get. πŸ˜‰

This first image is from Wild Rock by Kazuza Takashima.
Talked about by Mary Calmes in her guest post for this series.

  3. That little line blocks out sooo much…. *eye roll*

Side note: More Viewfinder & Crimson Spell available in scanlations now!

I'm a member of the Ap Yaoi World Yahoo Group and they posted the links today.

  4. So long as there are no pink-haired, blubbering, emo ukes, I'm all for reading yaoi mangas!

I loved yaoi in high school. Don't read too much of it anymore now that I'm in college because I've gotten tired of seeing shota (which I thinks is WRONG!), rape, and pink-haired ukes who cry too much.

Right now, I'm reading a Korean manwah called: A Thousand and One Nights. The artwork is so lush and beautiful. I'm a sucker for bishies! πŸ˜€

I was thinking the same thing as SVZ! Yeah, useful, that line… not.

Tam: We approve of the yaoi cookies. πŸ™‚

Miranda: LOL! But you have to admit that it's a kind of censorship that any perve will really like. πŸ˜‰

VC: “So long as there are no pink-haired, blubbering, emo ukes, I'm all for reading yaoi mangas!”

I feel you, hun. Only so many eye rolls you can do before your eye balls either pop out or are your own personal version of a poker machine.

I really like manwha. There's an edginess to it that you don't necessarily get in yaoi. I've never heard about this one though. Can you give linkities, VC?

  8. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

Chris: Do we really care though? ;P

    EH: Indeed. *GRIN*

I really like the yaoi pics. I tried a couple of the books, though, and I just couldn't get into it. :/

Richelle: It's not a genre for everyone that's for sure. I will be sure to post more yaoi pics for you in the future. πŸ™‚

    Twimom227: Sucker! ;P

    Ingrid: That's a site I visit a lot too. πŸ™‚

It's a beautiful yaoi. Really. The writing is top notch. The stories actually have a MORAL (unlike most yaois that are just about sex, lol). The artwork is just so beautiful. I recommend this manhwa to any shounen-ai fangirl who wants something a little more “serious” and “dark.”

I only have volumes 1-3 right now (I've read up to 5). But there are at least 6 out there, I think. Great series. Give it a look! πŸ˜€

  18. Unknown's avatar Kris says:

Wow. That does look terrific. Thanks for the links, VC! I will definitely be trying it out. πŸ™‚

Glad you liked them, Orannia. The artwork in Wild Rock is terrific. You should give it a read some time. πŸ™‚
