first series: tatts

Let’s face it, a tattoo on a guy can be sexy as. And, in erotica and romance, the descriptions of tattoos being traced by smutty mouths are steamy to say the least.

But what about those tatts in, err, unusual places?

In my reading I’ve come across two examples of characters with these types of tattoos. Those that have caused eye imprintage anyways.

One of these was in *drum roll* Sean Micheal’s – c’mon, you should have guessed that! – Fits Like A Glove where the sub was inked with a dragon who’s tail tip went up inside his, well, butt. O_o

The second was in Willa Okati’s In the Strangest Places in which the main character’s, Daniel’s, cock was tattooed by his artist lover. *whimpers*

So, my question, do these tatts still evoke the same response in you as a reader of erotica and romance?

Personally, and being a tatt geek who knows exactly how much these bastards can hurt, I’m on my hands and knees begging for the character to arrive in the story in fully inked glory.

Guys with tatts = Smexy!

Guys getting owwy tatts, insta-healing and then fucking like rabbits = No. No. No. No. No!

Love me a tattooed boy. Sigh. Yeah, I don't really want to read about it happening in sensitive places (Willa Okati's book) but once it's done and looking good I'm very happy with it.

This is soooo NOT NOT NOT SFW, the name of the file should give it away, ouchy. Not sure that works for me. LOL It may be a bit too far. So while I don't mind tattoos in sensitive spots, I'm more of a traditional girl. But if the tattoos are mentioned in the blurb, I will likely buy it no questions.

One tattoo that always made me curious was the one in Gemini, there is vague refernce made to his tattoo “down there” but never a description. I wanna know.

  2. Chris says:

What would we do without Tam pushing the envelope just a little bit further?! O_o OUCH.

Yes, let's get those characters tattooed before the story, or in the story and then *time passes*.

  3. Val says:

Tattoos are great! I especially like to see it in cover art. Sometimes I got to wonder, though, like for the gorgeous cover art for Bound by Deception by Ava March here:

I mean are those Maori tattoos on Regency era British gentlemen, which makes no sense to me, or am I just thinking about Maori tattoos because of this superimposed design thing the artist has going on the cover?

    I mean, I'm not really complaining …

  4. I think a tat on the inside of a leg would be pretty yum. But up the butt? O.o

  5. Tam says:

I can't claim to have been searching for that one. Someone else posted it on Good Reads. And Kris brought up “sensitive places”. LOL I'm actually much happier to stick with tradition.

  6. Wow Tam!! Wow. *must look away*

  7. Melissa says:

Having watched a buddy of mine in Guam get the top portion of his dick tattooed, I have to say reading about the experience is not something I want to do (really the guy cried like a baby with snot and all, and he walked funny for weeks!). But the after effects are great:3 So I really prefer reading about men already inked.

  8. Jenre says:

Was he so sex starved that he needed something to point the way?

I read a story recently (and no it wasn't SM) where the hero had a tattoo which went up his penis. I think it may have been an AM Riley book, but I can't remember now. I did think 'ow that must have been a bit sore' but on a roughty, toughty alpha it's almost a given that he'll have a naughty tattoo somewhere.

I do have a great fondness for tattoos, but only one or two. The ones who go mad and have every inch of their bodies tattooed are not sexy, just slightly insane.

  9. Mandi says:

    LOL @ Jenre..HAHAHA.

I love tatts – I don't mind reading it on body parts. I have a couple myself and I don't think I could EVER do it in a sensitive area. But fun in fiction πŸ™‚

  10. Lily says:

    I love tattoos!!

OMG, Tam, that picture!! ROFL πŸ˜€

  11. Tam says:

Ally Blue Adder had a tattoo that was on his penis I think, part of it anyway.

There was another one recently Jen for me as well, I can't think of it now. Seems to me it had to do with a dragon. That's going to make me crazy now.

  12. Chris says:

Tam, was that Inking Aaron by any chance?

  13. Cool pic Tam, I have seen it before …Liked it then, still like it now..

I am cool with tattoo anywhere. The pain of it no, but I love the finished thing…

Other than the m/m stuff mentioned – I read a m/f book, Bonnie Dee I think with full body art (even the guys feet).. good description as well…

  14. Ingrid says:

A few of them are nice especially if there is a special meaning behind them.

In lover and commander one of the protags also has thats extending to his dick. He actually admitted it hurt like hell.

What I also like are yakuza tattoo's. those are like a work of art and are one piece of stead of all sorts of tattoo's next to each other.

  15. Ass tats? No thanks. Wiener tats? OUCH. I like tats, don't get me wrong. Just not in the no-no places πŸ™‚

  16. JenB says:

I love tattoos. I'm kinda disappointed this post isn't about *getting* them though. The artwork being traced, the buzzing of the instruments, the pleasure/pain of the needle digging into the skin…

    Got distracted.

I think tattoos on naughty parts look cool; but as a tattoo is technically an open, healing wound for about two weeks, I don't recommend sticking one's freshly-inked wiener into another's orifice(s). That's a hell of a lot of opportunity for some really funky infections.

I love the dragon penis tattoo though. Have y'all seen it? That's the coolest pic ever.

The one Tam posted is actually pretty hot too.

  17. JenB says:

Here's the dragon penis tattoo (obviously NSFW…duh…PENIS!):

  18. jitterbug says:

Kris, these “first” posts are really making me laugh… My “firsts” are all related to some SM's book too! XD I've read the one with the tattoo in unmentionable places (nononono), and the one with the slightly crazy and creepy (to me at least) hero fixated on enemas, and the one with the off-kilter sub twins who find their perfect balancing Dom, and the one… you get my drift πŸ˜‰

Willa Okati's book was more believable I think, I mean, it was said they didn't have sex for a long while after the cock tattoo was done, IIRC.

I like tattoos! Well, the well done ones at least. And I agree with Ingrid, if they have some meaning is better.

This summer I was following the World Aquatics Championships and I happened to see an interview with a French swimmer, I don't remember his name – he has a large tattoo that covers one of his shoulder and pec and finishes with a kind of swirl around his nipple – I was so mesmerized by that tiny whirl I didn't even heard what he was saying πŸ˜‰

  19. jitterbug says:

OMG the dragon penis tattoo!!! O_O

  20. Jenre says:

Tam: YES! It was a dragon. Where the heck did I read it? It's going to bug me now too. Grrrrrr!

  21. Jenre says:

Chris: Is wasn't Inking Aaron cos I haven't read that book.

  22. Thank you JenB…

    How gorgeous is that….!!!

  23. Kris says:

Tam: Love me a tattooed boy too. I don't mind tattoos in unmentionable places – like Jen, I found that arse tatt kinda hot – but I REALLY don't want to know about it in the story. Aftermath is fine, but the actual doing… no.

Chris, we can always rely on either Tam or Jen for pushing our boundaries. LOL.

Val, I love me a good tribal tattoo, especially on a guy who has a full sleeve coming over his shoulder. Merow.

Re: the cover – I think it might just be the image giving the impression of a tatt.

Katiebabs chook: My main prob with up the butt is that it makes me think of all the trouble trying to get that sucker to heal. Having said that, I quite liked the imagery afterward of the Dom fucking the sub with this gorgeous dragon tatt in the small of his back. πŸ™‚

  24. Kris says:

Melissa: “But the after effects are great:3” I bet. *waggles eyebrows*

“So I really prefer reading about men already inked.” Word.

    Jenre: *snort*

“but on a roughty, toughty alpha it's almost a given that he'll have a naughty tattoo somewhere”

    That's very true.

Mandi: “But fun in fiction :)” Oh yeah. πŸ˜€

One of my tatts is on the inside of my wrist and knowing how much that hurt on the sensitive skin there makes me shudder when I read about even ouchier places being tattoed in books.

Lily: I remembered the post that you did a little while back when I was doing this. πŸ™‚

  25. Kris says:

EH: “I am cool with tattoo anywhere. The pain of it no, but I love the finished thing…”

    That's it exactly.

Ingrid: I adore Japanese artwork. If I was skinnier, blah, blah, nothing would stop me from getting a full dragon from shoulder to thigh. In the meantime I thinking about getting a spray of cherry blossoms on the top of my foot. I really like tatts on feet.

FV: “Just not in the no-no places :)”

You say 'no no' a lot, FV. Or is it just me? πŸ˜‰

JenB: “I'm kinda disappointed this post isn't about *getting* them though.”

You really think I wouldn't go there? *g*

“I think tattoos on naughty parts look cool”

I think I might have mentioned a few times that I do too.

Wow, to the dragon penis tatt. Must admit that I'm not a huge fan of colour though so I think it would have been better in black and white. πŸ™‚

  26. Kris says:

Sara: LOL. I'm glad that you're having fun with these posts. It's be interesting to revisit my experiences and thoughts then and now.

Okay. You need to find a pic of the French swimmer now! I LOVE tattoos in that position. They are delicious.

  27. Chris says:

Ok, was it Win and Lose by TC Blue?! I swear I just read the book in question… Spilled Ink by Rob Knight?

  28. JenB says:

I even like the pain. πŸ™‚

  29. I love tatts and have one. The guy who did my tatt (many moons ago) had also tattooed his own dick. While he was tattooing me he was telling me about how he had to keep himself erect to do it and how its not easy when you're piercing yourself with ink and there is nothing sexy going on. He had me cracking up with self tattooing stories.
Love tattooes in books and real life.

  30. Tam says:

You guys shouldn't encourage me. This is NSFW but more jokey than serious as tattoos go.

Jen, I think it was Rob Knight Spilled Ink one of those Arcana things. For some reason I don't have it on my computer at home and TQ won't let you download once it's past a certain date but I'm Rooster had that tattoo. He was a tattoo artist and they always have freaky tattoos. LOL

Have I read Inking Aaron, is that the best friend who is a guinea pig? Maybe I did.

  31. Kris says:

JenB: Why doesn't that surprise me. πŸ˜‰

MsM: I love that story. The images it conjures!

Tam: Naughty!! There's the case for rimming right there. LOL.

Inking Aaron isn't the guinea pig story. It's the one of the tattoist in a casino getting it on with a closeted exec. I've read the other one though, but can't think of the title.

  32. Tam says:

Tattooed Heart was the one with the friend who was the guinea pig.

  33. K. Z. Snow says:

Jen, you may have read it in Exploring Savage Places, Book 3 of Utopia-X. The drugged-out Andrew had an elaborate genital dragon tatt studded with microscopic sensors.

  34. Tam says:

Forgot about him KZ. Talk about playing with your joy stick. There are probably some hardcore gamers out there who would kill to be able to accomplish two thing at once, play Halo and jerk off at the same time. I think you're on to something KZ.

  35. My hero is tatted in my book. It's sexy and hot and when the heroine first sees it? Le sigh. MMmmmm…tatts can be totally sexy. Tatts all over? Yeah, not so much. Tasteful…sexy. MMMMMMM>…lol…sorry, in that kinda mood tonight. I'm hungry. heh

  36. Kris says:

KZ, thanks for that! I was sure that I had read about it relatively recently too.

Bridget, don't be sorry. I go all drooly and dreamy on this subject and spent many an hour searching for prettie inked cookies to add to my collection. πŸ™‚
