Since when has this ‘author’s cut’ thing been happening or have I just not noticed?
Anyone have any idea how it works? Or is it basically the same deal as a Director’s Cut, but with more pasting than cutting?
Especially of sex scenes one imagines.

Sometimes I think to myself it would be nice to do an Author's Cut. Sometimes when you read things after they published you just wail and gnash your teeth and cry and wish you could go back and change it.
Author's cut. Isn't that a euphemism for paper cut?
I'm thinking it means “Fuck my editor! I liked that scene the way I wrote it and I'm adding in the entire chapter of them at the zoo involving an elephant and a snub-snose shrew that the bitch made me delete.”

I have stumbled across books that have been re-released with changes. If I'm not mistaken, Rhianne Aile and Madelein Urban's The One That Got Away was revised and re-released.
Yes, the Aile & Urban book was re-released with 15,000 words added.
Those were important words, Eyre – I know that Tam and I were worried about the poor neglected cat in the first edition. The second edition deals with that. 🙂
Lol! The poor kitty neded to be taken care of! I guess revision and re-release makes sense when it's to fill a hole in the plot.
The idea of an author's cut is different, I guess.
I believe Feehans book has more background info on the worldbuilding and the characters.

The new version of TOTGA also fixes some timeline issues next to the cat.

LOL Yes, I read the new version and didn't notice much except the cat storyline. There may have been small fixes but nothing that stood out.

Eyre: I've not been interested in reading the re-released version of TOTGA. Not even – at the risk of getting stoned by Chris and Tam – to find out what happened to the cat. I liked the first version too much and was worried that the second might impact that.

Sometimes I'm so transparent. ;P I do like some of the author's work, but never got into this series. They all seemed the same to me.
Actually I don't think it changed the build-up at all Kris. To me it was exactly the same but with a few more scenes and the cat. 🙂 But you really aren't missing anything if you stick with the original which was amazing.
Unless you're the sort of person to worry about the cat sitting at home alone for weeks on end. *ahem*

Going back to the original question (sorry Kris, but…Simnon & Declan!) – I think it would have to be significantly different AND significantly better. Otherwise it's just re-packaging…

I would have been obsessed over the kitty thing as well. I was recently doing that with a book I was reading, skipping ahead to make sure that the cat was fine because it just seemed doomed to die as some metaphor. And of course, it did.
