maybe it’s me, but…

Do you ever read a description of an m/m sex scene where fingers, tongue or cock are searching for a prostrate and think to yourself “Go, Go, Gadget *insert appropriate appendage here*!”

Or is that just me?

tastes like chicken

About a month ago, I did a very insightful post about the cumfeast that appears to be dominating sex scenes in m/m erotica and romance at the moment.

I was later contacted by an anonymous someone, who wanted to see what I thought about ‘savouring the flavour of one’s own fluids’ (‘u’s added for translation purposes).

“What?” Sayeth I. “You mean the post-bj-I-can-taste-myself-in-your-mouth-and-it-makes-me-horny scene?”

Sound familiar?

This is me: Reading, reading, reading… hang on… omg… OMG… it’s coming, IT’S COMING… SNAP!… it’s the post-bj kiss…*rolls eyes*

Seriously, if you haven’t read at least one book with a scene like that in it lately then you must be living on another friggin’ planet.

But what do you really think about it? Does it freak you out like it does my anonymous someone or are you all for savouring your own juices? Enquiring minds and all that.

heroes that make you go ‘ungh’

“ungh!”

You know how I’ve been bored, right. I think I may have mentioned it a few times.

Anyways, yesterday, when Chris and Wren were encouraging my randomness, I came up with yet another awesome idea.

Let’s hold a competition for the steamiest of heroes and the winner will receive the soon-to-be-infamous Ungh* Award!

I know! It’s so friggin’ unreal, even if I do say so myself. *beams*

All you have to do is nominate the hero who most makes you melt into a puddle of… something – it can be m/m or m/f, but only the one! – as well as his story.

Once nominations close at Monday 12 noon my time, I’ll suck up to Tam to get her to create a votey widget thing and, yadda, yadda, yadda, he who gets the highest unghs wins.

See. Fun!

Get thee with the nominateeng!

*Ungh: A sound frequently read in m/m romance and erotica. It is usually made by the recipient of a particularly smutty touch from his lover’s hand or mouth, especially a BJ, and often accompanied by recipient’s head falling back to hit a wall – plastered or tiled – or on to a pillow/the back of a couch.

It is also a term used by certain irreverent readers to describe the most sexiest of heroes and other erotic moments. For eg, “Fuck. Did you read that scene where Nate got himself off in front of Aiden?” “Tell me about it. *fans self* It made me go ‘ungh’.”

things that make you go O_o

First impressions, anyone??

‘Cos I have to tell you that it took me a while to ‘see’ what was going on.

Then again I can be deliberately conveniently completely oblivious at times.

my m/m rut challenge (and, no, i didn’t forget a ‘t’)

I’m bored.

Again.

Some of you may recall what happens when I’m bored.

Yep.

So this time I decided to try my hand at an m/m ‘get me the fuck out of this rut’ challenge.

I know. Just when you thought I couldn’t get any more awesome, right. *beams*

How it works:

1. Pick a book from an m/m sub-genre or in a style (eg 1st POV) or form (eg graphic) that you usually avoid like the plague.

2. Read it all. No DNFs allowed.

3. Write a review – long or short – and do the linky thing back here.

4. Once the month is at an end – let’s make it a St Pat’s Day finish date – all the peeps who participated will be put in the running for a $20 ARe voucher.

5. Heck, just for the hell of it, I’ll even put up another $20 for the person who reads the most books out of their comfort zone.

Me, I’m choosing an historical to read. *makes wards-off-evil sign*

What about you? You in?

PS – This is also open to those readers who want to pop their m/m romance cherry. That definitely counts as breaking out from the norm. 😉

ETA: Author Aleksandr Voinov has kindly offered a free copy his novel Test of Faith to a reader interested in testing the m/m historical waters. The copy will go to whoever contacts me first. You snooze and Kris will take it herself. *g*

encounters with my baby brother: 3

from Cboy Junkie’s m/m meme post

My baby brother has a tendency to drop in at my place unannounced and we often end up with me chatting away and still working on my computer, and him responding in monosyllables and sitting on the couch behind me.

Given my tendency to lurk at various gay-themed blogs, you can probably imagine the kind of comments I get from the back seat reader.

One truly hilarious discussion occurred after I opened Cboy Junkie’s m/m meme post.

It went something like this…

Him: I thought this is meant to be all about gay stuff.

Me: What do you mean?

Him: Well, that guy in the photo is with a chick.

Me: That’s not a chick.

Him: But there are boobs.

Me: Hun, that’s a pert butt.

Him: No way.

Me: *points butt out*

Him: How come his butt is there??

Me: *waggles eyebrows*

Him: Oh.

Needless to say I lived off that one for a while. *hehehe*

the issue of infidelity

image from wiki commons

When I was putting my thoughts together for my tasting of Shades of Gray, I realised that the personal bias I have against infidelity was somewhat lessened by the author using the theme within the context of one of the character’s growing acceptance of his homosexuality.

Don’t get me wrong because, and no matter what the circumstances, I still hate the act with a passion.

However, in the case of sexuality, I can understand why someone would want to explore a long-denied part of them, especially after they have, for the first time, met the person with whom they have an intense physical and emotional connection.

What do you think?

Are you more willing to be convinced by a character having an m/m or f/f affair outside of a committed m/f relationship than you would be if the ‘liaison’ (translation = me trying not to show my blatant bias) was heterosexual or bisexual in nature?

I’m curious.
