dash and dingo competition (updated)

Some of you, who haven’t been living off-planet in the last month, may have heard about this book by Perth’s own Sean Kennedy and his writing partner Catt Ford.

What you may not know is that there appears to be some dispute over which sex scenes Sean actually wrote.

He, being so modest and all, not to mention scared shitless of his Mum, maintains that it was all Catt’s doing; however, others have declared D&D as the book in which Sean finds his smutty feet.

This, my dearest virtuals, leads me to the basis of the competition and that all important question… what do you think?

If you have read D&D; cos, you know, kind of essential to this game, which sex scene do you think Sean wrote?

Choose wisely because the sex scene that gets the majority of votes – I lean towards Dash’s dream sequence myself – will be the one that I take to Sean and badger him to death until he tells me if you’re right or not.

BTW, this competition is totally sanctioned by Sean. See. Look what he sent me in appreciation.

Now if only I could get him to autograph his pictures, but it’s the modesty thing again.

You’d think he’d be more confident about his blue-mesh-powers-of-twinkyness.

Go figure.

This competition closes in 48 hours 12noon Perth time, Friday 30 October.*

*Although there are no prizes or winners, it’s still a competition because I say so.**

**Plus, picking on Sean until he caves in can only be a winner in anyone’s book. *GRIN*

ETA: His Twinkyness thinks the yaoi thing has been done to death on this blog and has kindly offered an autographed D&D postcard and fridge magnet to the winner of the sex scene competition. Yay! I think he must like you lot. 🙂

Oh, and now it’s apparently a proper competition and all, I thought I’d better extend the time frame, blah, blah.

The Choose Sean’s Sex Scene competition will now close 12noon Perth time, Friday 30 October.

ps: everyone agrees

As chance would have it, at the same time I was talking very sensibly on the matter of an alpha wanker, the creator of said selfish prick (fyi that would be Josh Lanyon) made mention of an upcoming interview with the glorious Adrien English and… that other one.

He then invited people to suggest questions for the interview and a few *hundred* readers did exactly that.

My fondness for the arsehole being well known, several people said that I should particularly be involved in the process.

Receiving several invitations to take part, I meandered on over and, whilst analysing the suggestions, came to a rather stunning idea *even if I do say so myself*…

That I should be the one to interview the bastard and make him curl up in a ball and cry like the little girl that he is Jaketard.

Of course, I suggested as much to dearest Josh and he said that he would consider it and get back to me!

That’s almost a done deal!

If you also believe that I should be the one to interview Jake, please leave a comment here *and not at Josh’s cos you might get me into trouble, but I s’pose it would be okay to bombard him with emails. Actually, no, that’s probably a bad idea too.* to indicate your support.

Many thanks in advance.

K.

tam’s guest post: happy holidays??

Yes, it’s a bit early and I’m not being politically correct about the “December holiday period”, I’m thinking about holidays in general, Easter, Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving (since we just had Thanksgiving) and stories that are written with a holiday theme. Some publishers seem to come out with little sets of shorts with holiday themes; others just seem to publish random books set around a particular holiday.

I wondered if the readers out there like to buy holiday books. Do you only buy them at the holiday time, i.e. Christmas books in December, Halloween books in October or do you buy them year around? I will buy Halloween themed books any time. I love the holiday and am happy to read about Halloween in March. For some reason Christmas not so much. I have bought Christmas themed shorts outside of the December season but not as often as Halloween stories.

As an author, do you find it kind of a waste of your time and effort with regard to sales as you really have a pretty small window of opportunity since not everyone is like me and buying Halloween shorts in May. Or do you see it as a way to get your name out there to people who might not “know” you for your other work?

Many holiday shorts also revisit characters an author has created in other non-holiday works. I can think of two Christmas shorts, one from JL Langley’s Tin Star and one from Jourdan Lane’s Soul Mates series. Do you prefer that or not really care? I do find it a bit awkward when I’m not familiar with the characters and am faced with a short that assumes I know who they are and the world they are living in, but enjoy it when I do. What do you prefer?

Regardless, I foresee the tasting of cookies in my immediate future.

fuck it fridays

I’m 99.9% sure that Blogger verification is a bully.

I know this because it makes me have to re-enter the word nearly every friggin’ time.

My eyesight isn’t that bad so all it’s doing is trying to make me think that I’m stupid. *Bastard!*

Also, and more importantly, I never, EVER get the funny veri words that people always brag about in comments.

I’m absolutely positive all of this is because I don’t have the veri thing activated on my own blog.

I bet you any money that if I did tick the ‘go veri go’ button, I would then get funny veri words.

However, I won’t do it now on principle because it would be kowtowing to bullying and no fucking way will I do that! *Damn the man!*

Blogger veri, you can kiss my fat white arse!

not booky in the slightest

I have a thing for soundtracks. Whether it be the music of tv or film, it doesn’t matter. I just love ’em.

My fondness for soundtracks also covers the theme songs for cartoons.

Yeah, yeah. It may sound weird, but I lived for my Saturday morning cartoons when I was a kid. ‘Astro Boy’, ‘Heman’, ‘Robotech’, ‘Sailor Moon’, ‘Scooby Doo’. I was a huge fan of ’em all.

Hell, who am I kidding about the ‘was’.

When I was in my late teens I even went to the cinema to see The Little Mermaid by myself. And, today, my collection of Disney and Pixar animation as well as anime *Studio Ghibli, how I heart thee* is pretty awesome, even if I do say so myself. 😉

My love of cartoons is shared by my 4 year old Goddaughter, who, I am happy to say, is being properly educated by her Dad. *Her Dad and I have this thing where we both recite the opening of ‘Heman’ and, no, I’m pretty sure there’s no drinking involved. Not that I can remember anyway. ;)*

A couple of weeks ago when I went to get my b’day pressie from them visit them, my Goddaughter all of a sudden began singing the ‘Josie and the Pussycats’ song.

It reminded me of this fantastic soundtrack I have which has some of the great cartoon theme songs. On this, musicians like Liz Phair, The Ramones, the Violent Femmes and the Butthole Surfers cover the songs of ‘Josie’, ‘Speed Racer’, ‘Spiderman’, ‘Popeye’ and ‘Fat Albert’. It’s t-riffic!

To make my dorkiness completely and utterly apparent – in case any of you had any doubts – let me share with you one of my all time fave theme songs:

What about you? Did you have a favourite cartoon or theme song as a kid?

C’mon. Fess up.

I mean, seriously… can it really be any less nerdy than this?? *g*

your m/m story by l b gregg

Do you vaguely remember that ‘choose your own m/m story’ thing??

Well, lookee here!!

You will laugh your arse off. *Hopefully, not literally.*

Don’t forget to check out the latest in L B’s Men of Smithfield series:

everyone agrees…

Yanno, just because you tend to lurk more than you comment some people seem to be under the impression that if they speak in code (ie ‘he who must not be named’) you won’t be able to understand them.

Let me ask you this question, virtual folk…

What m/m romance character always, ALWAYS comes up in any discussion about alpha wankers?

Well??

HA!

You’re all living in denial if you don’t think that’s proof that deep down everyone really believes Jake ‘I’m a selfish prick’ Riordan is an arsehole.

But wait.

Maybe that’s why so many poor confused readers do think they like him??

They have something in common with good ol’ dickwad…

DENIAL.

ETA: In an attempt to piss me off some people (eg Richelle) have written spoilers in their comments. Consider yourself warned.
