firsts series: getting off on rings and ink
As much as I’ve been ouching over guys getting pierced or inked, I have to admit that when it’s not in a no-no (Fiction Vixen TM) place I do love reading scenes in m/m erotica and romance where either the receiver or both he and his partner get off on the act.
Yeah, yeah, a twu wuv bod mod is the equivalent of a caveman hitting his chick over the head with a club, but, for me, there is something so fucking hot about the entire scenario.
A couple of cases in point:
~ the scene right at the end of Secrets, Skin and Leather where Dal gets his nipples pierced in front of Dillion. Holy hell!
Offhand, I can’t recall a tattoo story, although I’m sure I’ve read one and had a similar reaction to those described above.
Maybe our very own “I even like the pain” redhead can think of one since she seems to have such an affinity. 😉

first series: tatts
Let’s face it, a tattoo on a guy can be sexy as. And, in erotica and romance, the descriptions of tattoos being traced by smutty mouths are steamy to say the least.
But what about those tatts in, err, unusual places?
In my reading I’ve come across two examples of characters with these types of tattoos. Those that have caused eye imprintage anyways.
One of these was in *drum roll* Sean Micheal’s – c’mon, you should have guessed that! – Fits Like A Glove where the sub was inked with a dragon who’s tail tip went up inside his, well, butt.
The second was in Willa Okati’s In the Strangest Places in which the main character’s, Daniel’s, cock was tattooed by his artist lover. *whimpers*
So, my question, do these tatts still evoke the same response in you as a reader of erotica and romance?
Personally, and being a tatt geek who knows exactly how much these bastards can hurt, I’m on my hands and knees begging for the character to arrive in the story in fully inked glory.
Why?
Guys with tatts = Smexy!
Guys getting owwy tatts, insta-healing and then fucking like rabbits = No. No. No. No. No!

firsts series: sounds
So.
Sounds.
Everybody’s go to urethral sex toy.
No, I’m not joking and, yes, I’m crossing my legs right now too.
My first experience. Sean Micheal. My second experience. Sean Michael. My third experience. Well, you get the picture.
My first reaction: As if.
My second reaction: Again?? Maybe it is real. *google search* Well, fuck me.
My third reaction: Yeah, yeah. What. Ever.
A recent read/scene that stands out in my mind was the urethral penis ring worn by the character of Dean in Ally Blue’s Where The Heart Is. At the time I thought to myself there was no way he could wear it for that long without some serious chafing… Apparently I was wrong.
Does it work for me? Yes and no. Yes, cos both receiver and giver seem to get off on it and, no, cos it makes me cringe.
Have I finally reached your threshold for tmi? Or are you a sounds fan? 🙂

firsts series: f/f
To be honest, f/f fiction has never been something that has overly interested me.
I’ve read one or two stories in anthologies maybe, but they certainly didn’t intrigue me enough to try out more of the genre.
Anyway, you might have noticed that I’ve been bored lately? I think I’ve mentioned it once or twice. 😉 Well, this spilled over to my reading.
Picture a sad and sick Kris trawling through the virtual bookshelves moaning about how boring all the blurbs were and wailing about not having anything to read.
Suddenly, a light bulb goes off!
“You know what. I think I might try some f/f erotica.” So, spendeth the money she did.
Sweet. Jesus.
Insta-convert. And all it really took was this pretty good – I thought it was anyway, but, hey, newbie here – anthology entitled I Kissed a Girl.
Who knew. *g*

firsts series: cross dressing
Cos John Barrowman is a whole heap of awesome.
Cross dressing.
Most people when they see this phrase automatically think of drag queens. As I’m not sure about the exact differences between the two – I’m assuming there are some – I’m not even going to attempt an explanation. Rather, I want to talk about my reading experiences with the subject matter of cross dressing.
The first book I ever read which featured this theme was an anthology, Bravo! Brava!, by MLR Press. Curiousity made me pick it up and my response after reading it… well, how deliciously naughty!
Since then, I’ve read some freebies by Jet Mykles (start with Skirt, but have a fan handy – you’ll need it 😉 ) as well as M. Jules Aedin’s more poignant paranormal mystery Windows in Time and have greatly enjoyed them.
My conclusion?
There’s just something about a boy in stockings and stilettos that seriously floats my boat. 🙂

firsts series: golden showers
Here’s where I admit that I don’t have a heck of a lot of experience with water sports or scat play in m/m fiction. Yep, practically a virgin here. 🙂
Besides hearing what others have said, the only time I’ve actually read it myself was in an extremely hard core yaoi where the practitioner was described by his sex partner (although he was more of a slave – not in a d/s safe way either – than partner) as a ‘sick fuck’. I concurred.
In all honesty, this is an act which I have no real interest in reading at all because there is something about it that just tips the humiliation and eww scales for me.
Anyway, that’s my opinion. If you’ve read about this type of play, I’ll be interested to know what you think.

tasting ‘black wade’
A ‘Firsts Series’ interruption for Kris’ New Year’s Readolution 3! To try a different author and/or genre once a month.
The Blurb:
Dreaded pirate Black Wade has a cruel mind and an explosive sexuality. His mercilessness is legendary, but it wavers when he encounters the young and warm-hearted English officer Jack Wilkins.
These two absolutely different men are prisoners to their fate. Overwhelmed by their passion they unite in a fight for freedom and love.
Why I bought it:
Sarah of Rain on the Roof is a PIMP, that’s why!!
Dislike/like (ending on a high note):
Dislike~ At 80 pages it’s not a particularly long read, but this is actually pretty average for a graphic novel or comic. I admit that I don’t buy this medium very often and am always a little taken aback by the cost of it; however, when you consider the format (hard cover, A4 size) and the quality of the artwork, I think it’s worth it.
Like~ Graphic novels, comics, yay! I’m such a sucker for the medium. Maybe it’s me, but there is something just so vivid and tactile about colour in this format and this is definitely true for Black Wade. The artwork is so beautifully lush and the scenes between Wade and Jack have a depth and sensuousness to them that is absolutely gorgeous:

Dislike~ This story has dub con in it, including an initial scene between the main protags. To be honest, I was a little put off by this, yet what else can you expect from a pirate/captive pairing. I think what made it convincing overall was a glimpse into the mind of Jack before his capture (can’t tell you the details for fear of spoilers) and the development of the emotional relationship between the two men afterwards.
Like~ Further to the above, and while the theme of the story is nothing startling or new, Black Wade still gives the reader a satisfying and sexy romance between two complete opposites during a period of time when this was strictly forbidden. Lovely. 🙂
So, what I think: I am so in love with the artwork of Black Wade it’s not funny. I keep taking it off the shelf and salivating over it. It’s stunning.
=============================================
‘Tasting’ is my version of a mini-review where I talk a (very) little about what I liked and disliked about a book as well as who I think the story will appeal to. Oh, and I’ve added a bit about why I picked up the book in the first place – sometimes this can be interesting to know.
=============================================
PS – I was gonna be nice and have a competition to give someone a chance to win my copy of Black Wade, but, fuck that, I’m keeping mine. You can bloody buy your own.

firsts series: pas
I’m a total wuss so while a part of my shivers in delight whilst reading sexy scenes involving protags with piercings, another part of me is cringing because, well… OUCH THAT WOULD SO FUCKING HURT!!
That aside, my first Prince Albert experience can be summed up in two words.
Needless to say that the majority of scenes which have come since cannot hope to compare with the one in which Nate jerks off, playing with pa and all, for his Boy. *fans self*
If that doesn’t convince a reader about the sheer smutty goodness of a pa I have absofuckinglutely no idea what will.
Oh, and if it doesn’t, I’d go see a doctor quick if I were you cos your girly or dangly bits obviously ain’t working right. Just sayin’.
*Mmmmm… Nate…*

firsts series: twincest
In my first fisting (and doesn’t that sound down right dirty 😉 ), I described how I only vaguely noticed the act because I was distracted by my WTF-fascination with the twincest in Chris Owen’s Gemini.
If you hadn’t already guessed, yep, this was my first read with this pairing.
Since then I’ve read a few other twincest stories and have come to the following conclusions:
#1. A part of me is always gonna be squicked.
#2. The taboo nature of the relationship has to be dealt with in some way or else mega-ultra-squickiness will occur.
#3. Give me a third to the twins and I’m more convinced.
#4. The Island Kitteh and the Bloggist Formerly Known As The Gingerkid will ALWAYS be way more pervier than I.
And you? What do you think about twincest?
