Does this remind you of someone?
You may want to be careful about how you answer, just fyi.
You seriously don’t want me to find your lack of win… disturbing…

matthew vandrew is going down
Matthew wearing his plot bunny hat.
Matthew Vandrew is the next victim volunteer darling author to participate in my awesome ‘choose your own m/m story’ challenge.
The poor, deluded boy.
How to play:
Step 1. Peeps choose different elements to be included in a story.
Step 2. After counting the votes, I let you know the results and…
Step 3. Hand it over to Matthew, who has agreed to write the short story incorporating your choices in about 4 weeks time. *I may not have told him that last part. Whoopsy.*
The story prompts:
1. the setting
a) a wilderness trek
b) a deserted townsite
c) a museum after hours
d) a truck that breaks down in the middle of nowhere
2. some background to one of the main protags
a) he is a beast – literally – a man who transforms into a Bunyip
b) he is a beast – literally – a man who transforms into a Yeti
c) he is a beast – literally – a man who transforms into a Sasquatch
d) he is a beast – literally – a man who transforms into a Jackalope
3. another character/s
a) a couple of nerds who think they are Sam and Dean from Supernatural
b) a ghost who keeps appearing at the worst time
c) a guy who acts like Hunter Van Pelt
d) an obnoxious socialite with pink, sparkly hiking boots
4. a conflict
a) a trap
b) one of the heroes is secretly a reporter
c) one of the heroes is allergic to fur
d) a beast who is not sure he wants to be uncursed *That is so a word!*
5. an object/phrase to be mentioned in the story somewhere
a) stripy toe socks
b) a magician’s hat which looks like a sombrero
c) a cattle prod that comes with a warning that it shouldn’t be used for sexual practices
d) a talking bird who keeps saying ‘Bring me Solo’
Leave a comment with your choices or email me at krisngoodbooksATgmail.com. You have until midnight Sunday 4 July (Perth, Western Australia time).
Let the picking on Matthew begin!
random awesomeness
While I’m still playing at DIK and preparing to make Matthew’s life as hellish as possible for the next choose your own m/m story challenge, I thought I’d share this piece of awesomeness with you.
It is the scene from the Were the World Mine that made me fall deeply and irrevocably in love with it:
My thoughts…
Two words.
Fucking. Brilliant.

your m/m story by mia watts (revised edition)
1. the setting ~ a building earmarked for demolition
2. some background to one of the main protags ~ one is sucked in to doing a favour for a friend
3. another character/s ~ a lavender-haired matron in a twin set and pearls, who is constantly pinching butts
4. a conflict ~ one has a panic attack whenever he sees red M&Ms
5. an object/phrase to be mentioned in the story somewhere ~ a split trouser seam revealling a pink, lace g-string
Curious to see what Mia was able to do with these story prompts??
Well, here it is:
Pinch Me, I’m Yours by Mia Watts
All I’ll say is that you may never look at red M&Ms the same way again. 😉

maybe it’s me (again), but…
Blurb~
A cat’s life isn’t always leisurely…especially if you’re a talking one.
“Gunner” Dahlquist makes a living piloting his freelanced ship, The Rockside Hopper. A cynical, but optimistic veteran of Beast War III, Gunner brought one good thing away from the wars – his roommate Max.
Max just so happens to be a talking cat.
Together, Gunner and Max pick an odd set of allies in their quest to find the truth to Max‘s creation. First, there’s the veterinary student who’s a martial arts expert and may be falling in love with Gunner. Then the Bioengineered Eastern Orthodox mystic who claims to be Max’s sister. Next is a coarse and sullen failed shape shifter experiment. Last is the infant “cereborg” who’s trillions of times more intelligent than humans…but is she a friend to Gunner and company, or is her very existence a threat to the human race?
WARNING: Vulgar language, m/m and m/f sexuality, and violence.
And how the heck am I meant to resist a character who is a talking cat??
Plus, it has a warning about vulgar language.
You may not have noticed this, but I’m all about being vulgar.
Please tell me someone has read this already.

maybe it’s me, but…
Those of you who know and love me are totally on board with my theory about the dramatic rise of urban fantasy/paranormal genre being the lead up to the Big Supernatural Reveal happening in 2012.
Katiebabs chook’s post the other day made me wonder whether They – you know, The Powers That Be – have perhaps taken the whole thing a little too far.
I mean, saturation of the market is all well and good, but there is such a thing as familiarity breeding contempt.
Let’s face it, the Supes are all gonna be pretty pissed off when they are greeted with ‘yeah, nice chompers, but do you sparkle’.
Just sayin’.

No, not about me for a change.
Emilie linked to an article on her LJ, which was full of such total win that I wanted to share it here as well.
Go read it. It’s pretty damned brilliant.

dear publisher
Dear God, would you get with the times already!? Print Publisher
I’ve given it some thought and I’ve come to the conclusion that it would be in my best interests if you would implement an epublishing program at your company.
I believe it will be beneficial for the purposes of my instant gratification.
You’re welcome.
